toyota_ae71 Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 gday people just wanting to know if anyone knows how much a k50 box weighs. it would be greatyly appreciated!! Quote
Trev Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 I just pulled one out of a car and i would say 20-25 kgs. Quote
harun Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 On the box topic, will a K50 box be a straight swap for a K40 or will it require any modifications? And where abouts can you get bellhousing gaskets? Cheers Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Bolt straight in, no mods. HOWEVER, so corolla clutches are 19T, some are 21T, so just make sure the spline in right. :) You won't find a k40/50 bellhousing gasket, because they don't exist!! The bell housing don't come off them. If you mean a gasket between the engine and bell housing, then they don't exist either. Not needed. Quote
JiP Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 The boxes should swap right over. Depending on what the box is from the shifter position may vary. KE70 shifter position is towards the back while KE3X/KE5X is in the center. Not sure if there was KE1X/KE2X 5 speeds but if there were it'd be towards the front. J. Quote
harun Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Sounds easy. How many liters of oil does the K50 need or take? Quote
7shades Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Pump that gunk in there until it comes out of the filler hole on the side. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Sounds easy. How many liters of oil does the K50 need or take? Open a google search page......type "toyota k50 oil capacity".........click "I'm feeling luck" tab. :) Oh that was so hard!!! Quote
JiP Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 Thats mhat my Haynes manual says for K40/K50 box. And T40/T50 is 1.5Ltrs. And the Gregory's manual says exactly the same. Quote
towe001 Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 The 4 speed K40 is 1.7Ltrs While the K50 5 speed is 2.5Ltrs Quote
JiP Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 I was just saying what both my books say. What makes you think that its 2.5Ltrs?? Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 Do my search for dummies above Jip. Should take you to a wiki page. Mind you wiki reckons 7k's come in KM20 liteaces, so anythings possible I suppose. Only thing that slightly worries me is the fact that I put 2.5 litres in my K50, hope they're not supposed to be 1.7lt!!! :) Quote
JiP Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 Have a look under the car to see if the excess oil has come out maybe? I was under mine yesterday and thing I might have overfilled it last time. :) Quote
