kermit55 Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 (edited) hey my mates got a sweet sexy ae86.. hes comtimplating on his conversion>_< he want to do some sort of conversion where he can get a ridicolous amount of power from it. he basically has a commodore wreckers in his backyard so he was thinking of putting one of his worked 3.8 v6 in his hachi backed behind with a 5spd box. what do you guys think? he was originally thinking 4age but he use to always drive commys and thought there pretty quick for a mini bus sized car, so it might be prettty quick in his hachi, not to mention its his third one in one month lol(due to minor circumstances of a miss communication with a tree and gutter). so what do you guys believe in doing this conversion? i no alot of you's would probably be against this but some of the highlights with doing this conversion is that the commy v6 is f@$king cheap to build up and its different. cheers all the advice he can get is very much apprecitiated and also if anyone can get me a link to that guy who put the commmy v6 in that ke70 might help aswell the reson he wants do this is coz he is under the new laws and has tried all he can to avoide it but they just wont let him have a turbo ... jerks Edited September 22, 2007 by kermit55 Quote
Trev Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 Tell him to sell the hachi and buy another commodore. Dunno why he wants to go for more weight to gain more power with a worked engine, Just do a 4AGE. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 Would make a good burnout car, goodluck getting it regoed. Quote
Raven Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 SR20DET it. Cheaper power than modding a 4AGE. Or for extreme's, go for a 13BT Quote
kermit55 Posted September 22, 2007 Author Report Posted September 22, 2007 he is hoping with all the work done to the commy engine he is hoping it will put out almost 200 hp with hopes of n.o.s for speciel events ... i don't think he is all there lol Quote

towe001 Posted September 22, 2007 Report Posted September 22, 2007 Get him to do some research on the new laws cause maximum power for a "P" plater is 200Kw and no mods that need a blue plate(eg - engine swaps) Licence restrictions Quote
Neonasty Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 Do it! I have a spare 3.8 in the garage. If I had a spare hatchi Id do it. Sure it wont get registered but I'm sure it'd go well. There are a crap load of parts around for them. People are putting turbos on them now too. Good drag car/daily (if you can get away with it) I'm sure if you had a real quiet exhaust and were careful you wouldnt even get pulled over. Quote
towe001 Posted September 28, 2007 Report Posted September 28, 2007 True, its only illegal if you get caught. An old mate's daily driver was a sunbird, rego'd as a four banger powered by 308 chevy goodness. But he drove like an old man, and no one picked up on it Quote
monkii Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 it would go really quick but any hint of a turn and it will understeer into a tree. it would do mad burnouts tho :) Quote
tas_ae71 Posted September 29, 2007 Report Posted September 29, 2007 (edited) are you serious?? 200hp from a 3.8?? thats perthetic, seriously its very very gay. a guy on here has done his conversion into a earlyer ke and he calls it a led tipped arrow, it majorly f@$ks up the weight, not so much by adding it just it moves it forward of the cross member.. anything will fit, may as well just put a 253 V8 in. has been done to a t-18 if your doing a conversion may as well do a desent one with a desent motor for the work thats involed.. a non turbo 2jz would be a better option, most probaly lighter and puts out more power... in standard form another option is a 20V, its alot easyer of a conversion and it makes desent power in standard form and it would be able to be passed for rego because you arnt increasing capacity or cylinders. you can also use all the engine mounts/box. they are cheap these days. dookie Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 anything will fit, may as well just put a 253 V8 in. has been done to a t-18 253? fark that! make noise and go nowhere! i would rather a horse and cart :) Quote
