I was looking at www.Motorplex.com.au, For drag meets.

To cut a long story short, I want to drive a demo derby car.

how long do you think a Ke70 would last? I can put any engine I want in to her, This is the only time i would consider a 18R (good old boat anchor) as an option.

Thanks

Chris

I have seen the following used in demo's

Remove cooling fan from water pump,

remove cooling fan from alternator,

remove thermostat,

bypass radiator and run a hose from the waterpump directly to thermostat housing with a radiator cap at the top somewhere.

it will get hot but not as hot as without water.

don't forget the radiator cap or it will blow a hose.

Isn't this all a KE70 is good for anyway? :P *puts on flame suit*

I would say that sounds like "fighting words". I had the idea some one would take this road.

corolla are made to suit all forms of motor sports, even the brutal forms.

I would use a holden or ford but they are all ready all used up, and now cost far to much! talk about polishing a turd.

The first car would cost me about a grand, and less and less for each one after. could even win $5000.

You would be better off with an old holden or ford for a demo derby car.

A decent hit from say an old kingswood and your ke70 would be rooted, whereas the kingswood would barely be dinted. Those things are battering rams on wheels.

The only way you would have a chance is to play the whole cat and mouse thing and run and hide until the end.

cat and mouse hey, there is only one way to win cat and mouse, Don't be the mouse!

I would have a clear disadvantage, but it would be fun.

What do you guyz think is the best car for demo derbys?

I think people forget the might Chrysler Valiant's a bit too

A nice VC Val which is built like a tank should cope well.

Also the old Ford LTD's, ZA/ZC Fairlane's would make a nice demo derby car.

Might upset the old-school Ford fan's though lol.

The E7 might be weak compared to most cars but it might have better movability in a smaller area so it might actually be a better car to run and hide with, One of my mates does pro derby's and he tries to use HR's and other boxy holden's.
