toyota_ae71 Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 i bought this holley 32/36 modled the exact same as the weber but apparently its for a 4 cylinder pontiac or chev would this still be ok to put on or would it drown in fuel? but i still most likely need to jet it down! oh and its goin on a 1.3 hi-cam ke70 Quote
toyota_ae71 Posted September 17, 2007 Author Report Posted September 17, 2007 (edited) i just found out they were a 2.3l or 2.5 but i don't know witch 1 my carby's off but would that still be too big for my 1.3 or would ya just squeeze it in for fuel wize??? Des Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 Way too big for a 1.3 if you don't jet it down. Even if you do jet it correct you will probably still have over fueling issue's. Have a look at a Nikki carby from a Gemini or a Rwd Mazda 323. Quote
toyota_ae71 Posted September 17, 2007 Author Report Posted September 17, 2007 well howcome u could put a 2l cortina weber on but not a 2.3l holley on it Quote
Des Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 (edited) well howcome u could put a 2l cortina weber on but not a 2.3l holley on it That 300ml makes a difference and some people still have trouble with Cortina Weber's on 4k's. Why do you want a bigger carby anyway, Sure the Aisan ones can be crap but they work well if you leave them be. Edited September 17, 2007 by AE70 Quote
toyota_ae71 Posted September 17, 2007 Author Report Posted September 17, 2007 well 4 starters i bought this holley 32/36 thinking it would be off a smaller engine but i just researched it then i found out it was off a 2.3 and the other reason is that i race the car I'm puttin it on!!! Quote

If your going to change the carby buy something that is known to work well to save yourself time and money. An over sized carby is just as bad as an under sized carby. The 32/36 you have probably would work with a worked 4k. Edited September 17, 2007 by AE70 Quote

coln72 Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 It only had the 3k carby on it until I worked out how to link up my twins ;) and that 3k carby was modded a little :P Ran my 5k's with twin 3k carbs so I guess they were effectively seeing 2.4l of carbies with no issues. Only way is to bolt it on and see. Just don't change it too much because if it does run like a piece of shit you can go back. The only issue I have is it is a Holley!!!!!!! The old man used to unbolt them and throw them away and bolt on a decent carby. Motors amazingly ran better :D Quote
toyota_ae71 Posted September 17, 2007 Author Report Posted September 17, 2007 how come he took the holley's off coz people have always told me that holley's a pretty good brand and manufatcurer Quote
Des Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 I call worked: Head shave to bump up compression, Porting and polishing, Double valve springs, Cam regrind, Extractors with an exhaust system, Light flywheel etc all that shit to get it to rev a bit better. And to add to what coln72 said the only good holley is a new holley. Quote

coln72 Posted September 17, 2007 Report Posted September 17, 2007 Always ran like shit. This was on holden 6's (some of these were pretty tough) and ford 351's etc. Persivered with the Ford for ages before replacing it with a Carter. Quote
