I'm pretty sure it's an E52. The E-series gearbox is a FWD-style gearbox, I think it was only ever available in 5-speed. They were available with an LSD in cars such as the AW11, SW20, and AE101. Other vehicles the gearbox was available in include four cylinder Camry's (I think V6's used the same transmission too, but not certain) and all S-engined FWD & GT-Four Celicas - the ZZT231 used the C-series six-speed.

I am currently in the process of developing a "plan of attack" with the mighty 20V 82. Trying to decide whether to keep it (I love it so much :wink:) or sell it (I doubt it) and also whether to keep the 20V or whack in a gze and go from there. Depending on price I would probably go gze bottom end 20V head, I have a silvertop however so there wouldn't be the same sought of gains apposed to the BT 20V head. so yeah dunno atm thinking sucks

Blacktop heads aren't THAT much better than the Silvertop. Don't get me wrong, they're better, but I don't think you'd notice the difference nearly as much as you'd think. Toyota only ever claimed a 5hp difference, which is f@$k-all really.

 

20v head's are fairly over-rated. As a standard head, they are better than the 16v, but when it comes to modifying, give me a 16v anyday. My plans for my GZE include a bigport head, ported out, with big valves. With the big valves I want to use, I will end up with a greater valve area than a 20v, with what should be awesome flow thanks to the huge standard ports (made even bigger). But that's quite a while away.

just go GZE so much more fun if u must stick your silver top head on it,

 

my plans for now include orderin a pump 2day and gettin a fone call ditchin my car and drivin the rota again yay

normally i hate leavin my car n e were but i get to drive the rota so its kinda ok

The trouble with a 4A-GZE 20v would be the need to have a custom inlet manifold made up. And you need an aftermarket ECU to run it, as the 4A-GZE has the throttle body before the supercharger, the 20v has the four throttle bodies leading straight into the head.

None come to mind - good luck with that though. I take it that it doesn't need to be registerable.

 

You could have come and picked up my KE55 parts cars and made one good car out of them if you'd wanted. Pity we loaded the red one onto a trailer yesterday for a trip to Sims.

You wouldn't have much of a car - even a rally car. I'm not sure if my father-in-law was taking the car to Sims today or later in the week. The red one has no front struts, bent rear shocks, no engine, with HEAPS of dents including the front, roof, and every panel has rust. The blue one was run into a tree at low-ish speeds (I don't think the radiator was damaged), is auto, has all the doors removed, has rear end damage (just cosmetic), and rust. If you want them, you can have them, if you take them away, but if you want to use our towing services, we'll need some fuel money. I'll also need to know today, otherwise they'll be going.

who would you guys recomend talking to for a gze conversion into the 82. Just trying to get an idea on pricing. My plans are to depending on damage to my current engine are to whack in a gze half cut from an ae101 hopefully an E-58 LSD also **crosses fingers** as I figure this would be a better starting point for future modifications.

I most probably wont be racing lol I might come down havnt been down for lapsprints etc for a long time what time these things kick off these days? 10 still?
