wasfishing Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 yo bro wiz my vtak i wil pawn all. jst u wiz8. um I'm get bored at work ok. home time soon yay. maybe some car work maybe not, no luck on a belt they don't list it but if u take it in they will match it to sumthing.
wasfishing Posted August 1, 2007 Report Posted August 1, 2007 VVTi is the same thing right????????????? kluger has it but still no low end touque but power does kick in up high, a supercharger would do it good.
ancullen Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 VVTi is not the same thing. VVT (Variable Valve Timing) is just a cam that can advance or retard the timing somewhat. VVTi (Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence) is the same as VVT, but operates off a different sensor setup, eg. throttle position instead of revs. VVTL-i (Variable Valve Timing & Lift with Intelligence) has the VVTi cam, but also has arms that can change the lift of the cam (I don't think it can do duration though, which VTEC can). Dual VVTi is simply a VVTi cam gear on both intake and exhaust, whilst VVTi is generally just on the intake. Valvematic is Toyota's new system which is apparently similar to BMW's Valvetronic system, only better. Each of these systems is meant to provide infinitely variable cam timing, duration, and lift. BMW's system is quite heavy though, and therefore limits engine speed to 7,000rpm. Many believe Toyota have overcome many of the weight problems, allowing extra revs, but there is no proof of this, and I doubt it anyway, as the 3ZR-FAE engine that Toyota will release it on is a long stroke motor, indicating a lower redline. VTEC (Variable Timing and Emissions Control - I think) is a complex rocker arm setup that operates off extra cam profiles on each camshaft. Effectively each camshaft has two cam profiles per valve (three in later versions) and a hydraulic setup controls when these extra profiles affect the valve. For instance on the S2000 motor (the F20C), VTEC doesn't operate until 5,800 rpm or so. On the K20 series of motors, VTEC has three profiles, therefore creating less of a 'VTEC kick', with a smoother power band and increased torque. The K20 series also introduced i-VTEC, which basically adds VVTi cam gears. There is apparently a new development called AVTEC or something, but I'm not sure how this operates or what is different, only that it is meant to be better.
ancullen Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 And on my black Corolla I don't really feel any sudden VVTi boost or anything, and I doubt anyone would feel it on a standard Toyota as it is intended to be extremely variable and smooth as a result.
wasfishing Posted August 2, 2007 Report Posted August 2, 2007 its not smooth on the kluger, has not ball and then a lt kicks and has high revs and revs quickly
wasfishing Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 pick up my car this arvo i hope atm I'm driving 13b J port rota :o
ancullen Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 I never driven a rotary myself - but I like the noises they make. :o
gemzu Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 I feel it when the VVTL-i kicks in - it kicks in way up at 6k but there is definite feeling when it does. Love it!! and the new exhaust sounds great
wasfishing Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 who did ur zaust???? and adam rotas are cool cept this one doesnt like goin slow
gemzu Posted August 3, 2007 Report Posted August 3, 2007 who did ur zaust????and adam rotas are cool cept this one doesnt like goin slow Got it sent up from south and Joe installed it for me I helped :o
