Oh yeah, it turns out the motorkhana definitely has been changed to Saturday - so I can't make it. The event is being held at Hughes airstrip, with sign on from 1.30pm and starting events at 2pm. BYO drinks, hats, and chairs. It costs $20 per person. Hope some of you go and represent the club.

All of the 4agze engines sit around the 1500-1800 dollar mark? I can source brand new gze pistons and rings for like 800? All I need is the bottom end of a gze engine anyways

adam a ze in a starlet thats crazy, just for prices how much would u want for the ke55 and how far off rego is it.

Thanks

A 4A-GZE in a Starlet would be AWESOME!!! The KE55 is nowhere near rego, and I doubt you'd get it through rego as I stripped the shell out to make it 'race spec', and was even told I'd taken too much out for racing. Come to think of it, it might be a good idea not to take the KE55. It'd be okay for drifting, but not if you want a car you can register.

a gze in a starlet would be fun in the rain :hmm: I have seen a 3sgte in a starlet lol

I saw a 3S-GTE powered EP82 Starlet in Zoom (I've still got the issue). Cool in a straight line, but I can't imagine it being much fun when you get to a corner. Starlet's already have a really shitty weight distribution with the standard 4E-FE, let alone an iron block 3S-GTE. I think the ideal would be a 2ZZ-GE with six speed from a Celica. They're an all alloy motor, and should only weigh about as much as the 4E-FE, or may be lighter (4E-FE has an iron block too). But they're pretty damned expensive - believe me, I checked.

Quickly lifting off the throttle while turning in the rain can be... interesting. Especially when you've got the car 'rally spec' like I do.

RALLY SPEC (def.) - 15" front wheels with fat tyres, nearly bald 13" skinnies on the back. :hmm:

Reason for aquaplaning - using too much power, going too fast, tyres are too wide. Remember the wider the tyres, the more likely you are to get them sitting on top of the water instead of cutting through it. Also, you're in a light car, which increases the chance of aquaplaning too.

Ohh, with my car beginning its life as a CS/4AC the fuel tank was for carby right, when the engine conversion was done they didn't swap over fuel tanks to my understanding its running a VL turbo fuel pump externally, when I corner hard with the fuel tank at about 1/4 it gurgles abit right. It also generates a large humming noise when the car is on like a bilge pump noise. I was wondering if a surge tank set up would rectify the problem and eliminate the noise or would I need an efi tank from an AE82 twinky?

BTW Pure-SX, do you reckon Daniel might be interested in a straight swap - the blue AE86 for a 2004 model Corolla? The Corolla has extra options, and should be worth at least $16,000.

Err, my KE55 still has the tank from when it had a carby (KE55's never came with EFI). It's supposedly got a big Volvo pump of some kind and a Holley. Although I think only one of those is actually working at the moment. It's also got a surge tank. The pump is extremely noisy, but the setup has always worked fine (except for when one pump was shorting out somehow). The main thing to change when going from carby to EFI (aside from the fuel pump) are the fuel lines, as cars with carbies don't require nearly as much fuel pressure as EFI.

Sorry Stephen. And I don't know about calling/messaging him. I reckon that'd take a fair bit of time and effort, and I'm not sure if I'm up for that. :D
