You might have a bit of a hard time getting an S15 turbo, as all the Silvia boys want them for their S13's and S14's. GT-R turbos are a bit easier to get your hands on, but I've heard that they're not as easily interchangeable with other T25/T28 turbos. I'm thinking about paying the extra and buying a GT28RS when I go turbo. :o

yep thats what I want the good ol' disco potato :P I want one of these straight up but I am trying to lower my "How much to turbo the rolla" estimate lol, I should be gettin the disco potato straight up. Secondly, would say a Hybrid GT spec intercooler with dimensions 450x300x80 be sufficient, I don't want the "ZOMG U HAVE AN INTERCOOLER" look (intercooler hanging beneath the front bar or the front bar chopped to pieces) that is why I want the smaller intercooler but it should be able to handle it all right?

You gonna be out Friday/Saturday night this week if so I WILL find you lol. Anyone know if the proposed intercooler will be sufficient? So funny on Saturday night some little girly in a 1.5L Lancer tried dragging me like 3-4 times of the lights, so I was like hrrm I bet I can scare her a little if I follow her so she started changing lanes all over the shop but I got bored lol. I have a set of 4x100 ginnies laying aroundthat I might have to dispose of this weekend but I don't know lol. But yeah anyways I will catch up with you Friday/Saturday and also someone tell me if the intercooler will be ok

cheers

Dunno bout the iuntercooler depends on how much boost ur running i guess.

Need a shell for my 4age daily drifter project.

plans are to run around 15psi with a GT28RS, if need be I will get the bigger intercooler but I wouild prefer the small as I don't want to hack the front bar. Pfft sif I can't keep up with you :D

P.S Anyone going to the Motorkhana at hughes this weekend could be a good way to have a small meet and greet etc?????

It depends on the intercooler I suppose. 450x300x80 isn't very big though. I'd speak to Dave at Hi Tech Tuning, as he is very knowledgeable about all things relating to mods.

Also might be after a 16v 4age head if some one has one.

Bigport or smallport? I've got two bigport heads being sent up from down south. I think one of them has cams and everything in it, but the other one is pretty bare. One has some slight damage around where the buckets go, but can apparently be cleaned up pretty easily by a machinist. As I'd be getting the head that I use ported and polished, if the damage really is fixable, I could keep that head. I also don't need the cams, cam buckets, valves, or valve springs as I'm going for aftermarket ones. I also have a set of bigport N/A cams sitting with my yellow Corolla, which I will now probably not use. Remember that all 4A-GZE's and the smallport N/A motors have smaller cams than the bigport, so these are a nice little upgrade. They don't make a big difference, but they don't cost much and you don't need an aftermarket ECU to run them.

I agree with Shane about boost affecting intercooler size too. Remember the air in Darwin is usually pretty hot, so a bigger one may be needed to keep the boost at a reasonable temperature.

Shane - so you're going to get this vehicle registered then? That'll make finding a car a bit more difficult. Otherwise I might have sold you my KE55 shell, as a 4A-GE would bolt in and it's already got a custom tailshaft to suit a 4A-GE with T50. Plus the diff's already welded. :hmm:

When I finally go turbo, I'm hoping to run about 18-20psi through that big ol' GT28RS. I'd like to see the high side of 350hp or about 200rwkw. Because I've only got a welded KE55 diff and a standard T50 gearbox, I'm not going to be giving it any hard launches, but don't need to at racing anyway. If I do get the car into Improved Production, I might have to look into a W5* gearbox and a bigger diff of some kind (preferably not a Hilux one - too heavy).

I'll be at the NAMSC Motorkhana on Sunday, but I didn't realise it was going to be a Hughes. I thought they were trying to have some at Hidden Valley. Oh well, as long as I do well either way. Starlet FTW!!!

How much would you want for the KE55??

Y not go water to air intercooler can be hidden is smaller n better. water absorbs 3 times as much heat.

Um adam how much for a head i can just bolt onto my aw11 4age (my wreck i bought), will a aw11 clutch suit rwd setup or not?

I am not exactly familiar with W2A intercoolers don't they require alot of other thigns like water pumps etc? I am going in to Hi-Tech after work today to hopefully get my quote, I went in on Friday and he said he will have it ready by today fingers crossed. How much you guys rekon it should cost me for

Rebuild ???

Turbo $1500

Manifold $1000

ECU/Tuning/Wiring $2500

I/C + Piping $1000

Misc. $2000

Labour = ELEVENTY BILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111oneoneoneeleven!!!

onli prob with the mr2, it will fill the boot wid dirt as theres a hole in da bootom of the boot pan were its crushed and the air intake is in the boot and its a cheap ass pod so don't wana risk it until after 25th april wen its all fixed, might come down with my bro in his 7 if he goes. other wise ill might just have to jump in a gem or sumtin.

N rebuild will be a bit just get a ze bottom end its stronger. never done any of that so sorry can't help ya.

Well I got my quote from Hi-Tech for the rebuild they are looking at $5500, really annoys me considering I asked for a quote for them to assemble the engine for me, what I said was how much to get the engine rebuilt with the gze pistons that was all lol. What I am considering is getting a gze bottom end, a mate of mine is using a 7 rib gze block(ae92 isn't it). What I want to do is put my silvertop head onto the gze block and be done with it. I can't see that costing any more then a few grand even with a workshop doing the work? Any ideas?

P.S Shane I may have room in the rolla if ur interested

prob be cheaper to buy a 4agze and bolt the head on.

here u go 4agze engine package with nevo 14psi pulley ($3200) , could just bolt on ur head and hav 20v 4agze.

I alreadi organised to go will alex thanks for the offer thou, u can take me for a run thou  :D

nah turbo ftmfw lol, I am searching around for gze bottom end prices, at first I just want to either whack in new gze pistons/rings and bolt on my 20V head or buy a 2nd hand gze bottom end and bolt to the 20V head and go from there. If it goes kapoot I will do a full rebuild of the engine. I want to keep it under $10000 as much as possible. I have heard the gze bottom end and 20V head arn't that bad of a combo and I figure using the bottom end from a gze will be cheaper then rebuilding my engine with the pistons, I bought the idea up with my daddy.... he was like you are spending more money on the motor then you did the car but yeah I should be proceeding with the plan as I would rather spend $10000+ on the rolla then sell the rolla and spend say 15000 on a new car lol
