Comrade_Charlie Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 Thought Id post my POS rust bucket corolla that I'm going to get working on soon I guess... this 79 sedan deluxe was my aunts she bought a parts car and this came with it, so its been sitting in the woods for about 3 or 4 years so I asked if I could have it and she said yea. and I have a Datsun 280zx(S130 in japan I think, I'm not sure if Australia got them, I know yall have Nissan Z31s which is what my daily driver is.) turbo parts car, so I have an idea of swaping the l28et engine from the 280 into the corolla. it should fit, not well but fit, ive seen tighter swaps but this one comes close. I'm pretty good at making stuff with wood so I was thinking about making motor mounts out of wood then giving it to a shop at my school to duplicate the dimensions and make me some metal mounts and trans mounts, and my friend makes drive shafts so he can help me with that. I have a lot of free time so this is why I'm doing this. I have always called this a ke30 I'm not sure if it is or not??, I know it as a corolla mainly. I'm in the US I think this is a AUS site... That is what I have seen mainly RHD corollas, thought Id post here since I have a LHD one the 2.8 liter engine has 180hp and 202 torque, it can have 230hp with litte mods that I plan on doing, should be nasty, if the heavy engine doesnt kill the car. I plan on putting a ford rear axle in it too since I think the stock one would break... surface rust from pine needles sitting on it for years... no biggy This one is my cousins, Can you swap the front end off of a sport coupe deluxe or a liftbacks front end onto a sedan or 4dr sedan? there is more room in the engine bay with that front end compared to mine the engine I want to use is in this car for now, it is a 2.8 liter inline 6 turbo. It has been sitting outside for a couple of years but I plan on rebuilding it so I don't care. here is someones l28 on a engine stand, just to show you the size of it, its pretty long but from my measurements it will barely fit. I wouldnt have a problem if I was putting it into a liftback or my cousins. Unfortunately these cars are hard to find so I wont be able to use the front end unless I buy a whole car... Quote
flat out Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 omg your cousins corolla makes me wet, i like seeing and hearing about us rolla's and stuff, keep on the pics mate, casey Quote
demuire Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 That's a TE31 (not a KE30). As for whether the fronts swap over, I would suspect so (or it wouldn't be far off), but I can't confirm. Quote

Jordan Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 THat's because australia only got 1 T-Series corolla (the dreaded TE72 aka T-18) we got plently of K-seres though. Jordan Quote
7shades Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 AU also got the 260 and 280 Z series datsuns... I tried to restore a 280zx once and gave up. The L28 can be made to go pretty hard, but they really are a frikkin heavy lump of an engine... make sure you upgrade the front suspension and brakes. A lot. Maybe install a parachute as well... JiP Posted September 7, 2007 Report Posted September 7, 2007 (edited) Welcome to the club!! Looks pretty good considering its been sitting unused for such a long time. Oh, and the cousins corolla is a TE51! the coupe version on our KE50. Sadly we didn't get that car. Edited September 7, 2007 by JiP_01 Quote
Comrade_Charlie Posted September 7, 2007 Author Report Posted September 7, 2007 I'm not making this to be a race car or a drag car just maybe a wow factor and a fun car... my 300zx will be my go fast car but I want the rolla to be farely quick and a litely modded l28 should be good. I know its heavy, it should handle like junk but I drive slow most of the time, so its all goood I have never seen a corolla on the roads where I live, they are rare which is why I'm using this one.
