bernieboy Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 Sounds mean Tate. Thumbs up good work. Quote
dfunkt Posted July 9, 2008 Author Report Posted July 9, 2008 well....as much fun as it's been, the side pipe doesn't pass "the fuzz inspection" :) RBT earlier tonite, idling just above 1k, having first pull me along the line. breatho goes fine, then another cop asks if i had an exhaust on there, cos he can't see one. i told them (when i finished blowing into the machine, about 4 others came up to check out my car) that i do, and then a third asks if i have a muffler. again, yes i do, i'm running a side pipe. the 2nd one goes, i don't think that's legal. then the sargent comes across, i tell him i a local, and he says the next time he spots me out, i'm gonna be pulled over to make sure my exhaust has been 'fixed'. so i'm gonna do the ring around and find out which places can 'fix' my exhaust for me early next week. don't worry, i will be getting a few vids of it saturday screaming it's head off :yak: Quote
Doogs Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 Pity about the cops, at least they did not canary you though. don't worry, i will be getting a few vids of it saturday screaming it's head off :yak: Glad to hear it :) Quote
dfunkt Posted July 9, 2008 Author Report Posted July 9, 2008 well, i'm now the proud owner of 2 te27 tacho clusters....the new one should be arriving in 3 weeks. and now i go sleep-sleep :) Quote
Johno Posted July 9, 2008 Report Posted July 9, 2008 Sounds tuff as mate, nice suprise with the side exhuasts. Good work :) Quote
dfunkt Posted July 17, 2008 Author Report Posted July 17, 2008 have received confirmation that my cluster is on its way from japan. looking to be arriving before the end of the month. the 4k has been officially swapped, did the change at vicroads this morning. a new exhaust has also been put on today, got rid of one leak (which was the previous guys welding "skills") but the leak at the head still remains. the sidepipe is gone from daily duties......but will return one day  cbf typing.... dfunkt Posted July 23, 2008 Author Report Posted July 23, 2008 another year older, and still i manage to be a complete twat! did some noise testing courtesy of a sound meter. my mates na jza80 is about 96dB at 4000rpm idle, an ae82 twincam + cannon is 94dB, and the ke20 is also 96dB with muffler, +100dB with sidepipe tho  so, for now, the sidepipe is only being used for off street activities... on other fronts, the post office is being good to me. dash trims, a 2nd te27 dash cluster (this one NOT molestered!) and a ke30 brake master overhaul kit. so in about 3 weeks i'll be pulling it off the road again for a short while to install a 'new' ke70 5spd, heavy duty clutch, one of my clusters, the dash trims, a head unit and some speakers. i figured now i have a 'quiet' exhaust, i might as well get some tunes happening for a bit. i might even 'borrow' a mates 12" sub and amp package for a bit to see how it sounds. dF Quote
dfunkt Posted August 2, 2008 Author Report Posted August 2, 2008 had some time to kill today, so thought i'd install a tacho cluster :) all the gauges work! as well as all the switches. will check the globes later tonite. Cluster In Cluster at idle Cluster at 3k Quote
Johno Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 So no more monster tacho on the steering column? Looking good tate.. Catch ya tomorrow. :) Quote
Teddy Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 I demand a photo shoot with this early next year :) hahahaha Quote
harun Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Looks good tate. So was it just plug in and play. Did you have to run any wires for the tachometer? Quote
dfunkt Posted August 2, 2008 Author Report Posted August 2, 2008 in toyota's infinite wisdom, its plug and play. no extra wires were needed. and johno, the 2 1/2" is still on my column shroud, wasn't really in the mood to take it and it's wires out yesterday. it will be swapped for my overrated shroud sometime tho.
