dfunkt Posted July 3, 2008 Author Report Posted July 3, 2008 well a few things happened last night which might've been either the cold, the piss, the tired or the fumes...... pics are better ;) enjoi! now, as for the tacho cluster...it's going to be defiled some more ;) the fascia will be cleaned and sprayed, new lenses will be made for the speedo and gauges and the factory tacho will be removed and put into storage. pics of the cleanup/fix will come in a few weeks. the next month or so will be spent getting shitaxe together and running so it can be shipped off for painting. dF Quote
Doogs Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 pics of the cleanup/fix will come in a few weeks. the next month or so will be spent getting shitaxe together and running so it can be shipped off for painting. What happened to ''i'm more the sorta guy who gets it going and that's good enough. maybe give it a quick clean with degreaser, but hell, if it takes longer than 2 mins and won't help the car drive, it's not worth it IMHO.'' ? So if it is being painted........what colour ? BTW grille looks good. Out of interest, why the high temp paint ? Quote
dfunkt Posted July 4, 2008 Author Report Posted July 4, 2008 everything i've done to the car up until the last 2 weeks i was living my that ethos.... now, since my car is being housed at jarrads place, things like painting and cleaning have happened because he's got some control over it. (he actually did most of the painting as well as using some of his primers and paints) he's currently on holidays for a bit, so i have run of the shed. ;) if i can manage it, i'll throw a set of blocks in the rear one night and swap the alloys on the rear for the steelies and then pedal on down to vicroads. still need to organise a fan, might need to put the stock one on so i don't cook another engine. shitaxe is a project for a friend. turning a ke30 from manual to auto. it's almost mechanically ready (as it's really the only thing i'm half good at), just needs the interior fixed up, engine bay cleaned and oil cooler mounted. once it's drivable, it'll be off to another mate's place for spraying. color will either be purple or pink...unsure on which one and how dark/light it'll be. the high temp paint was from 2 weeks ago when we put the 4k in, i sprayed the extractors while the engine bay was empty. man, that's alot of writing.....time to go grab some drinks and relax for the arvo at work!! dF Quote
Doogs Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 That makes sense. Good to be motivated, I know I would'nt be if it were'nt for some of my mates ! Quote
dfunkt Posted July 4, 2008 Author Report Posted July 4, 2008 yeah, it's like that sometimes....which is why shitaxe is still awaiting some much needed love from me. Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted July 5, 2008 Report Posted July 5, 2008 Motivation was provided by my size 12 boots! has come up a treat, much better for the minimal extra work that was put in. Everything is clean and tidy again! Its a pisser about the grill, it was going to be thrown in unpainted as its a temp setup... then we gave it a coat of jam and it looks sweet as! The candy red was for a laugh but looks fine enough. You should all hear this thing... cams over like no tomorrow... nice work Tate. JP (Jarrad) Quote

Grille certainly looks good, it is amazing the difference these little cleanup jobs can make. I was not too sure about the red surrounds at first, but they have grown on me. Out of interest, where did you get the cam done Tate ? (I need to find a place for when I build my motor) Quote
dfunkt Posted July 5, 2008 Author Report Posted July 5, 2008 i didn't do the work. i bought the engine from kangaroosa. cam grind thread will help you a bit, lotsa good info in there. i brought the rocket home tonite, after going for a strap around the back roads....and i must say i'm more than pleased with the 4k Lump. needs a proper tune which should be happening in the coming month. lowering blocks will go in tomorrow if i remember to grab my chassis stands and 12" steelies so i can cruise around with the hubbies! philbey Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 Hmm, so you bought the 4k and the cam from Kangaroosa. I bought the 5K Hydraulic cam setup from him that he talks about in that thread, yet to find out how that goes! Quote
