dfunkt Posted March 11, 2008 Author Report Posted March 11, 2008 cheers. i think i might be spending a bit of time out on the backroads doing some 'testing' in both the 55 and the 20 in the near future, once i organise my tailshaft anyway. Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 True to bogun Bacchus, " I'll Learn Ya!" Well Tate, you earnt a gold star in my books... you had my boss confused all week as he runs 12s in his Chev and hasnt ever broken anything. He was like, "Nos?????" ... nope. "Turbo????"... Ahh... nope. "Hmm, hes on drugs!". And anyway, the launch at the drags was nothing, you should here him leave my place! JP Quote
dfunkt Posted March 14, 2008 Author Report Posted March 14, 2008 i might as well link the only vid of my car for the night. Quote
dfunkt Posted March 19, 2008 Author Report Posted March 19, 2008 well, my tailshaft is halfway to being usable. the old uni's are out and binned, just need to get the new ones greased and then fit it again. which won't be happening until the weekend after easter, as i'm heading up to QLD for 5ish days. i have a few things still needing to be put on the car/engine, but again, cos i'm so slack it probably won't be happening for another month or so, depending on how things pan out. carbonboy Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 (edited) Okay i'll admit it...I was one of the mates who was hungover and didnt get his arse down to help strip stuff out lol. Want to know the easiest way to prevent snapping tailshafts?? Buy a FWD!! Aint metal fatigue a bitch though? Let me know when you're back from QLD and we shall play with red rocket Edited March 23, 2008 by carbonboy Quote
dfunkt Posted April 1, 2008 Author Report Posted April 1, 2008 things have gone sideways a bit... the tailshaft is in, took it for a strap around town, all seems to be fine. will take it out tonite and head down the freeway to make sure it's properly good at high (legal) speeds again. but i've now sold my daily ke55, Barry, so the 20 is on for daily duties again. which means i'll now have to sort out the exhaust issue and probably get the weber fitted and tuned also. Quote
dfunkt Posted April 22, 2008 Author Report Posted April 22, 2008 well once again, due to me being slack, something else has come along and shifted my plans... i acquired some twin sidedraft dellortos (bolted to a lynx manifold and linkages already setup) which will be going onto the 20. and if i've measured correctly, i won't need to shave the inlet manifold or thicken the extractors to have them mount flush! 2 birds and not even a stone has been thrown :jamie: but again, this will have to wait as the auto project is still sitting in the carport, taking up my working space and time  Quote
dfunkt Posted May 7, 2008 Author Report Posted May 7, 2008 the auto project is moving forward, slowly, but forward...which will be accelerated as the RedRocket will be coming off the road very soon for a bit of a fix and upgrade. short notes: twin sidies, exhaust leak, head gasket, rear g/box seal, brakes (possibly but probably wait for the next car to use as dummy), radiator. dfunkt Posted May 28, 2008 Author Report Posted May 28, 2008 well, the car is officially going into pull-apart mode tonite. i have everything i need except fuel filters and line, gearbox oil and probably more degreaser and engine paint. my rad should also be arriving soon (once it's sent of course) i'll try and get pics of it along the way, i always say that and never deliver...but maybe with the help of another i can get it done. cheers dF Quote
dfunkt Posted June 6, 2008 Author Report Posted June 6, 2008 (edited) the 20 went into Peter's (thenobbler) shed last weekend and in a lazy six hrs had the engine (now mounted to an engine stand) and box out, front end accessories taken off (bumper, guards and valance still on), aircon and associated bits pulled out and the bonnet moved onto the roof. cleaning of the bay will commence this sunday at a slow pace as i'm playing excessive amounts of sport on saturday, the body won't like me much come sunday. the 5k will be getting a proper rebuild, and i'll be slotting a 4k in with a weber in the mean time to keep the red rocket on the road. cleaning and put back together will hopefully happen quickly, as i want to focus time and $ on the 5k rebuild and a new ghost. Ke20nut Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 i have a feeling this used to be my car around 8 9 yr ago. was in werribee sold it to a dumb kid . he whinged about the price and called it a bucket of shit. it was the best one i ever owned at the time . drove like a new one. the interior was immac Quote
dfunkt Posted June 22, 2008 Author Report Posted June 22, 2008 i can confirm that this was never owned by you. it was bought new by a lady out in the Lilydale area, who then passed it onto her grand-daughter after ~25 years. she drove it for a year, then sold it onto a young couple from Ferntree Gully. They owned it for eight years, but had to get rid of it due to having 2 kids (they were 1.5 and 4yrs old when i bought the car) and this was the one driven most by the wife. one baby capsule and one toddler seat aren't fun to use in a two door car.
