Des Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 If ya want torque to tow shit around 1UZ-FE for the win. If ya want to blitz people 1JZ-GTE, I have been in a Hilux with a 1J + Auto and he can floor it at 120 and it will light up the rears and change lanes  Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 REALLY??? If that's true then 3S-GE and 3S-GTE RWD conversions just became a lot easier!!! I thought the problem with RWD 3S conversions (apart from BEAMS) was that they didn't have the provision for the extra engine mount, plus the whole cooling problem Quote
ancullen Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Meh, they'd be easy to overcome. Custom bellhousings would not be cheap, so that's one of the main parts out of the way. Quote
78_7kRolla Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 3RZ-FE. That's the one i was talikng about. Probly a good option. Easy to find and relatively cheap. Quote
thomo Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 351 hilux, yes its registered, yes its fast Quote
Trev Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 (edited) 351 hilux, yes its registered, yes its fast Most utes and 4x4's are easier to get engineered as they run a full chassis, My brother's 4wd 308 (yes still ran 4x4) hilux was unreal but traction is crap when you have no weight in the back, 33's don't even cut it. Forgot to put ute at the start, Now it will make sense. Edited September 10, 2007 by Trev Quote
MRMOPARMAN Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 if its a pre 84 then engine bay length is the main issue.. that means all 6's are out unless theres some fairly hefty body mods done.. i reckon the commode motor or 3sg/2rz motors are the way to go personally. actually a bloke at work is about to undertake a VR3.8 to '83 hilux.. got everything he needed for $500 ;) Quote
