toyocharged Posted August 10, 2008 Author Report Posted August 10, 2008 (edited) a little vid of the last round of racing here another vid of a Audi RS4 doing hot laps round Mallala, the lap times are amazingly close with the rolla.... both around the 1.25 mark to do a lap, the audi is driven by one of audis high performance driving instructors though, not some fat guy with a mid life crisis Edited August 10, 2008 by toyocharged Quote
toyocharged Posted August 23, 2008 Author Report Posted August 23, 2008 (edited) Round 3 of the State Championship Good racing today the nephews co entered with us as they wanted a steer and can drive a lot harder than us, there used to 200hp more and laptimes in the 1.16 round Mallala Race results today, the nephews drove our cars the KE20 IP #77and KE25 IP #25 and got down into the low 23s in the race . Clint now has the EM u1600 record for Mallala for IP, Rob got Craigs KE20 into the 23s also. All it shows is they can drive and we can't. I finally cracked a 25 today a 1.25.4 and Craig got down to a 1.26 flat. Hopefully a 1.24 tommorrow. We both knocked 8/10ths of our previous PB Cars are still running so all is good, have a 10 and 16 lap race tommorrow All race results http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re...4/08/2008.MALL Qual (Clint and Rob driving) http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re...8/2008.MALL.Q2 Race 1 ( Clint and Rob Driving ) http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re...8/2008.MALL.R3 Race 2 (Old softcocks driving) http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re.....;/2008.MALL.R12 2 more races today, cracked a 1.24.5 , brother got into the 1.25 also.. toyocharged Posted August 30, 2008 Author Report Posted August 30, 2008 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Couple more vids Race 4 prt1,2, I have a spin in the last race but after that strung a few good 1.25 laps together. I thought I was going quicker but times were slower. A mate who races out ther told me all the Sunday times in the afternoon will be slower because they has Supercarts racing= chain lube/2stroke oil =greasy slow track Race 4 part 1 with extra big skid through 1st and 2nd for my little 1600cc motor on the warm up lap and extra value spin into the Southern race 4 prt 2 bit boring but a few fast guys blow my doors off again, some nice little hangs out the Northern hairpin though Also went to U-PULLIT RACING and scored some brake calipers for the rear, single piston series 2 RX7 a bit nicer than the old heavy and sticky VN Commode caliper..... $44 for both calipers FTW, new seals next week and they will be good to go Couldnt find any close ratio gearboxes though Quote
toyocharged Posted October 22, 2008 Author Report Posted October 22, 2008 The PI races have been run and won and all I can say is the track is f@$king awesome. On the friday practice day I was poohing my race suit in the first session best time of 2.20, I'm not used to cornering at those high speeds. The next 2 sessions were great and got my head round the speed a little more. best time for the day was a 2.06.8 Clints engine expried on the friday session, his car was going strong in the first 3 sessions but on the 4th when he was roading some tyres he smelt oil, he came into the pits and the catch can was full we did a comp test and n0 4 cylinder was down on comp, looks like he did some ring lands... It was a pity because he was down to a 1.50 flat and would have been top 2 or 3. Qualifying We reveiwed the video of practice and I was told to HTFU and go harder everywhere, I qualified with a 2.01 and 25th and the brother Craig qualified witha 2.05 and 33rd out of 34 cars. NATSOFT Race Result Race 1 Started fairly well and lost a few places but fought back for a 22nd and 2nd in u1600, Craig finished 24th and 4th in u1600 and passed plenty of car on the start line, he passed 6 cars by turn 1. NATSOFT Race Result Race 2 Started fairly well but couldnt select 4th at turn 2 ran wide and let everyone past:mad:, was running last at 32nd and fought my way up to 25th and 3rd in u1600 with a best lap time of 1.59.4..Clint drove craigs car and got to 22nd and 2nd in u1600 and a best lap time of 1.58.9 NATSOFT Race Result Race 3 Got a reasonable start and passed a few cars, had major gearbox selection problems and could use 4th for downshifting and tried to conserve the car, had a best lap of a 2.00.053 and finished 1st in u16oo in the trophy race. Craig DNFed due to a cracked exhaust..... Cars went on the trailer undented and drivers alive. Will be back there next year with wider rubber , more camber and a bit of engine work and hopefully a 1.56 will be acheivable:) NATSOFT Race Result Links to some pics courtesy of sdpics SDPICS.com - Online Photography : IMPROVED PRODUCTION CARS I will post the incar vids once their edited Race 1 Race 2 ( edited as the last part is boring) Race 3 Pics Quote
toyocharged Posted February 27, 2010 Author Report Posted February 27, 2010 A little update on the Rolla , Ive now had the engine rebuilt with Toda pistons, spool rods, ported head, balanced and blueprinted bottom end, 550cc inj and it will run on e85. Ive also acquired a holinger gearbox with straightcut gears and close ratios, I have upgraded the thickness of the rotors and gone to a Hawkht10 pad compouds. Fitted flares and bigger 13x7 rims and 205/60/13 tyres, It should be hitting the dyno next week and hoping for a 20hp gain over the previous setup of 182hp @ the flywheel here a few pics Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 looks mad, a whole lot of fun on the track too i bet! Quote
toyocharged Posted March 5, 2010 Author Report Posted March 5, 2010 The little rolla is moving now, had a good day working on it , fixed a few things up for mandatory scrutineering and only have to get a e85 tune and fit airbox, getting the baseplate laser cut to suit the quads. Hit the track for a practice day on 27th to see if everything works, bed in brakes and road some tyres ready for bathurst at Easter:dance: :P :( Little vid of the nephew going down the driveway, its only hitting 3000rpm, not even close to being on cam, straight cut gears sound f@$kin great inside and out of the car Youtube Video -> [ Quote
SLO-030 Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 OH HELL YEA!! Saw all 4 cars in a magazine last month, can't remember the name. Sounds awesome with the straight cut gears :P Went past the workshop today (Cooper auto elec.) and tried to peek in the workshop and spot a corolla or two :( Quote
toyocharged Posted March 18, 2010 Author Report Posted March 18, 2010 Car was finally dynoed , didnt make the HP we wanted , not sure if it was a slipping clutch(gearbox input shaft seal is leaking) or atmospheric conditions. We will be back to back testing it against the brothers cars figures on the hub dyno we usually use when the clutch is fixed. We are heading to the track next week so will have to see what its like out there. Engine sounds sweet at 9 grand though  Only real power run sadly then the clutch was slipping Youtube Video -> Quote
drc_ke20 Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 the RPM wants to climb so more but the video was cut short,i bet its a sweet ride?super nice! Quote
13BT_KE20 Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 do you use the stock KE2# strut when making up the custom coilovers? Cheers Quote
toyocharged Posted March 28, 2010 Author Report Posted March 28, 2010 do you use the stock KE2# strut when making up the custom coilovers? Cheers yep use the standard strut just cut and shut with a coilover kit Car has finally hit the track, fixed the gearbox leak and changed the diff to a 4.11 for Bathurst next weekend :). The car went well, missed a few shifts on the box due to the closeness of the shifts now, only really used 2,3,4 as the diff was too high. Brake upgrade seems good needs more rear though. The front l/h guard rubs so the guard needs to be trimmed for clearance, car seems to have a heap more sniff in a straightline, I couldnt really judge the upgrade of the wheels and tyres as the tyres were second hand and 4 yrs old, new tyres next week. The car has better turn in but suffered mid corner understeer and was very loose in the rear, also has a bit of a ecu interface fault on the crank angle sensor which limits it to 8500rpm. toyocharged Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 The Easter weekend race meet is over and what a meet , I knocked about 10secs off my PB from last year to a 2.49 in traffic, the SA guys were 1,2,3 in IP in over 2 litre and Rookey and myself were 1 & 2 in U2L in IP. We had heaps of track time and only had our last race cut short because of a BIG crash involving a WRX at Forrest Elbow. Qualifying I qualified 29th out of 45 cars with a 2.52.65 I was still working out lines and trying to get braver over the top http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....04/2010.BATH.Q3 Race 1 I got blown away by a WRX up mountain straight and diced with a RX 7 most of the race, it was a bit slow over the top but hosed me down the straights. Got down to a flat to a flat 2.50, still plenty to find http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....04/2010.BATH.R3 Race 2 I started well and was in a pack of cars consisting of a few late model v8, honda, rx7 and a Lotus Elise, was getting into a groove with cars of similar pace when the exhaust broke, stayed out for another lap but pitted just in case the rest fell off or was ripped off. http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....4/2010.BATH.R10 Race 3 Started rear of grid in 44th and finished 26th, passed a heap of cars but couldn't really get a good lap time got down to a 2.49. The car has a mid low 40 in it with a clear track and cars of the same pace http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....4/2010.BATH.R17 Race 4 I was meant to start in 26th but got put rear of grid again, the timing excel spreadsheet had a few bugs and put a few cars in their previous grid position. I was making may way through the field when the race was red flagged due to a big smash at Forrest elbow involving a WRX. I was a bit po about starting rear of field but it didn't really matter http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....4/2010.BATH.R24 The nephew was very happy as he got down to a 2.33 and was top 3 for the weekend :y: All in all a great weekend, no rain and no incidents by any of the SA guys, can't wait for next year.....FOSc is getting better and better a few shots courtesy of Nathan Wong..... speedshots.com.au Mark Shorty Short he was never headed all weekend James easy speed Sutton Micheal Iceman Rooke Adam Stellan Skarsgard Allan John fat wheels Sharp Clint Sharperto Sharp When it all goes wrong at Forest Elbow :P Plenty of great shots here courtesy of Nathan Wong Speedshots.com.au http://fosc.speedshots.com.au/gallery/fosc_040410/ Videos to come :fuzz: Quote
