LittleRedSpirit Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 what was from the horses mouth? no i didnt move it into the firewall. i have no interest in drift and the handling is not bad the way it is. moving it back 200mm, ahh, i see, i think what you were getting at is how its gonna totally f@$k shifter position? yes, probably, if you go motor back 200, shifter will be a good 250mm further back than standard. so...about the back of the handbrake....prob not ideal haha. anyway, as i was saying, i wouldnt drift it the way it is, its not nimble, but its not an understeer monster. its also fecking quick :D slides well, is great on long sweepers, but the tight stuff, thats where it will let you down drifting. who are DA racers? and which of them are running 1g's? they throw big ends running big power, and also blow pistons 1 and 6 if its on a shitty tune. but theyre actually a bloody strong motor. what is cussing, and how did i do that? is it coz i called you little red spirit boy? don't take it to heart, ive never met you, so i don't know if your little or a boy or not. I'm just an abrasive prick. thats why the ladies love me ;) Dude, I made a point of asking for your input, as you have a 1g. I made it clear what I wrote was what I'd heard, not necessarily what every single 1g owner has faced. Thats why I thought you might post, to lend the words of someone who has the engine in queston (the horses mouth). I'm not about to have some kind of pissing contest discussion about who I have spoken to, when, and about what and in what context, as I don't care what you think and have not a single thing to prove to you. I am not a scenester. Take my opinions/observations any way you wish. I assure you I'm not a boy, and resent being spoken to as one, but that wasnt even worth commenting on. I don't know why I carefully plan my use of language in my posts, when I'm entering discussions with people who don't do the same. Quote

I don't know why I carefully plan my use of language in my posts, when I'm entering discussions with people who don't do the same. well, i did some research, and it seems to "cuss" is to curse, and as such you were offended that i swore. not at you, but in my post about a statement you made. i apologise for offending your precious eyes, its just tradesman habit. on that note, i wouldnt try and get involved in a pissing contest with me, as i will no doubt win. i won the other day at work, we were trying to fill beer bottles. alas, i was the only one to completely fill the bottle, and as such i have no need to get in a intahwebzzz pissing contest, cause I'm great at them in real life. i was interested in who has been having such issues with a 1g, as a fellow 1g owner, as, not only do i wish to learn about their problems and maybe lend some light to the issue, but also to avoid the pitfalls they are suffering myself. soo...who was it? what were they doing? sure your not thinking 7m? ;) apart from calling you spirit boy, was my post in anyway belittling or written in a way that would make you feel as if you were being addressed the way a child may be? if you felt i was speaking to you like i would a boy, i apologise, just as people call me lover boy, and lovey, i too like to play with other users names, but not intend to make my post seem that i was addressing you in anyway other than as a fellow car enthusiastic keen to help and eager to learn. i don't know why you carefully plan you choice of language either. just let it roll on out, you seem to use sentences and punctuation which is very appreciated across the board, but planning your language? bollucks to that, most of the people on this board are HEKTIK 16 year olds, like i was when i signed up. on the note of headgaskets, often motors sit around for a year or 2 in the land of the rising sun, then sit around on boats, then sit around in importers yards. all in all this equates to a lot of sitting. and can perish the head gasket and when given some stick when re-started the seals and head gasket sometimes protest. stradlater from another forum was running a stock motor on LPG and 25 pound boost for 2 years before its did a headgasket. un-opened, ex japan motor. and many other guys have similar stories. a fresh 1g will make good, reliable power i have no doubt. LittleRedSpirit Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 (edited) Why do we do it. Tit for tat till we both get banned. I will say though, I am a tradesman. I do not use it as an excuse to talk down to people and sound ignorant. There is no excuse for that, never has been. Anywhere, on the net, or on the job. It is not an excuse to forfeit my intelligence and education in favour of 'not caring' when something confronts me. Being a tradesman, you should know this. I can assure you that if some tradesman I didn't know walked up to me and called me boy, there would be more than words flying. You wouldn't like it, and you know it. Lover boy. How condescending does that sound? Just read the language you used. I was the one who asked you to post here to give this guy some real info, not just our opinions (which in your expierience were not correct). You spoke to me as though I said you and your car were shit and a shocking idea, when I didn't say that at all. I don't need your ego. This person needs your info though, so push the ego aside and tell them what you can about the car/engine/conversion. By the way, if you must know what was said, the people I spoke to about the 1ggte with were laughing at it and calling it 'toyotas poor attempt at an rb20' and rolling on the floor laughing at the same time. It was so funny. I guess you had to be there. Thats how much they respect your choice. You are so right, absolutely no DA people run your motor. There may be reason for that, what could it be?. Now those last few sentences would have justified your earlier responses. For what you wrote I should have written them first post, but I have this really unappreciated supply of tact sometimes, go figure. Honestly, Id rather we all get along. This is BS really, and Id rather we just both get back on topic and try to help this guy. Edited September 9, 2007 by LittleRedSpirit Quote
Xany Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 I was about to lock this and tell you both to have a good long hard look at yourselves before posting again....but alas you have said you would rather be on topic, so it should end there.....if it doesn't i'll make sure the next person to carry on the slag fest will receive at least a suspension of some sort. Comprende? Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted September 9, 2007 Report Posted September 9, 2007 I have done some further reading on the 1ggte, and it is a better engine than I first gave it credit for. One bloke has given his 45psi of boost and it didnt pop. It was rebuilt obviously, but thats a lot of pressure. What does your car weigh, love ke70? Have you weighed it? How much heavier is it than say, a 4agte? This weight would be such a small problem in a drift car where the motor was slipped back 180mm. Do it, mate. It seems you could save for a bit longer and rebuild it really well. Then feed it 45 psi!! Quote
love ke70 Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 6boost, and also ron with the red gemini are both up around 450 hp. ron is running more boost, around 30 and forgies and revving to 8000 or so, and 6boost(kyle) is running standard pistons, crank, and rod and ran 9.71, 25 psi, 9000+ rpm. the motor he is currently building will be peak powering at 10500 apparantly, and I'm pretty sure it will have more boost too. hes going all out :D oil flow to big ends is an issue and a search on toymods will show alot, usually as issue on 1 and 6, hence the spun bearings people might often hear about. car weighed in approx 1100 kg. not bad considering its cut thick steel wheels, 15x7 front, and 15x8 rear. theyre kinda the same structure as sunraysias, so you can understand the weight in them... people call me lover boy all the time, i have no issue with it. i didnt talk down to you apart from the little boy comment, which was not done to get to you. if you still have issue and want to talk more with me, please pm me. ive tried to make my point that the 1g is a tough motor, but its often hard for some people to accept that concept. it seems you have done some research, rather than just gone off what some drifters have been saying. and fwiw, 1g doesnt make sense as a drift motor, in a toyota, go a 1j/2j or 4a depending on car, in a nissan go sr20 or rb20/25/30. the 1g is rare, is hard to get parts for, is the little whipping boy, but is actually a tough motor. the rods are virtually a half H beam. the crank is tough, and the pistons are more or less of the same caliber the 4a ones are ;) cheers, andrew Quote

You serious ? My corona weighs 1150kg without me and its got a all cast iron motor and a bigger car. Quote
love ke70 Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 think it was something like that... heavy diff, w57, heavy wheels, heavy seats it all ads up Quote
smacko84 Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Sorry to be off topic. Just wanted to say I'm impressed by how you guys sorted out your points of conflict and moved on for the sake of the thread. Your points were made and you acted like men and not like keyboard warriors who make for a comical reading but make public forums less desirable. Congrats guys. Quote
