All front pulleys, alternator brace, fan, lower gearbox mounts and engine mounts have been completly bead blasted and painted black enamel by myself.

And the mechanic decided to pull out a can of Toyota blue enamel and paint my bottom end  The sump has been painted black also, while the rocker cover got a real good (read sitting for 30 minutes) bead blasting until it came to a natural shine.

Had to order in another water pump hose for the right angle, new gaskets for exhaust, carby and rocker cover, and need to find a coil and ignitor for the distributor. Sadly one of the welsh plugs didn't look to friendly so they will be replaced (both of them).

The mechanic also hinted at machining the flywheel a little lighter . . . And hopefully extractors will arrive on Friday.

So all in all if all comes by Friday, the engine will be in the car with the gearbox, extractors and Webers.

That leaves the custom tailshaft, exhaust, radiator, thermo fan, thermostat, gearbox shifter position, wiring and hydraulic clutch setup.

In other news RA40 struts were put in, with a few mishaps. Just means the mechanics sorting out customs springs (and rates) for the fronts and resseting the rear leaves. And the bushes are slowly being replaced aswell.

So much done . . . yet so much still to do *sigh*

Well . . . the engine is in :( Looking pretty good to :n:

Thermo housing done, plug for emmisons outlet done, gaskets for carbies and exhaust have been found, extractors are being custom made in Sydney by Hurricane, and found the correct hoses for the water pump / radiator.

Gearbox shifter position didn't line up properly. Solution . . . T18 T-50 bellhousing with a TA22 T-50 gearbox and it worked a treat. Now I just need a custom gearbox mount to work with the TA22 gearbox.

Another problem, Webers don't fit properly, they hit the brake booster. Pictures up soon, but if anyones got any suggestions I'm all ears.

Also thinking of a T-Series diff shortened a little before I get the tailshaft shortened.

Lastly I am thinking of playing with AE86 struts in the front instead of RA40 with camber tops. If it doesn't work out I will just send it to the race car.

Cheers Fusion . . . pictures up soon :)

Does it have a ke55 square brake master cylinder, or the long skinner ke30 one?

This is the ke30 one that will allow twin webers....

and this is the square ke55 one.....

Well I got told today that the Extractors won't be here till next Wednesday. Thanks to Hurricane doing a special order and custom making a set as a favour for the mechanic, setting me back a nice $200 +. Therefore since there a one off for the engine, I am also looking into HPC coating for it. Might seem pointless, but I like doing it once and doing it right. Still got to mount the gearbox properly to, just lucky enough that the shifter position lines up. Also got new master and slave cyclinder going in :(

Well I got lucky yesterday :) A KE55 gearbox mount fits very nicely with the T50. I used the two rear bolt holes and had to widen the center hole a couple of milimeters. Mount the exhaust tomorrow and than off for the tailshaft and wiring.

Cheers mate. It seems that I may be changing direction with the front struts. Might be putting in AE86 struts, LCA's and Steering arms with Cusco camber tops. This way if for some reason later on I want to go RX7 calipers or coilovers its going to be alot easier. However me and the mechanic are still deciding what to do.

Also looking into ADR approved interior, as I am planning to get this thing enginered if possible in the future. Yet again I am in talks with the mechanic about this.

Another edition to the car is being looked into aswel . . . swaybars front and rear and maybe even a strut brace if I get carried away.

Now that the majority of the driveline is finished I am focussing on all the handling components. Was tempted for a T-Series diff, but yet again that will be looked into in the future if I really want bigger rear brakes or LSD.

In regards to the body I am thinking of maybe using part of my tax return to finace it, as I don't think the enginering will go to well with very slight rust in the engines firewall appearing.

Clearance issues :jamie: Talking to KE30 racing driver about this atm. He used an interesting idea to combat this it seems

Hmm well as projects go there always something stopping you . . . :hmm:

Tailshaft from the KE30 manual fit in like a charm to the TA22 T50, however there was little play, therefore I am getting it shorted by 20mm just to be on the safe side.

Hurricane decided to ring up after 2 weeks and notify us that it wouldn't be ready for another month :y: So the mechanic decided to go with another brand . . Twister . . Tornado?

Thanks to having the TA22 gearbox now I need a shifter for it. Also still on the look for a coil and ignitor.

Everything is going ok though. Gearbox is hard mounted with clutch plate and flywheel. Starter motor is installed and I have started on the wiring.

Also still looking into the RX7 AE86 strut conversion, but it will probally end up in the track car in the end.

Well electronic 3TC coil and igniter has been found. BIG thanks to 'Sleeka Spares' for the help.

Extractors have been fitted, looks like a 2" with one muffler for now until we decide to silence it, if need be.

Radiator is being modified a little for mounting points of the hoses and thermo fan setup.

Tailshaft is back and installed, so exhaust next week maybe.

Gear shifter from a TA22 was found and installed with 5 speed gear knob.

Using RA60 master cylinder for hydraulic clutch conversion with a T18 clutch pedal box (mechanics idea, needs a little modifying)

Oil filter, leads and spark plugs are sitting around and waiting to be installed when ready for full oil drain and tune up.

So it seems all parts have been found, its mainly just wiring the engine for it to fire, after the clutch has been setup properly.

Webers still don't fit . . . might be going twin down draft or single side draft. Just to make things easier.

Master cyclinder is in with a stock pedal box :lolcry: It looks awesome with only a slight shaving to the left side.

I now have added a single Weber manifold and a 2 / 3TB twin stock manifold to my collection. Thats three now to play around with. Also thinking of shorter ram tubes (16mm) however they will cost around $200

So pretty much everything is sorted, including the custom water cooling pipes. Radiator isn't being modified anymore, however it was a tight bend for the top radiator hose, so that had to be modified aswell as.

Last thing to do is check everything and finsh a couple of wires.

Also I just got some JDM AE86 struts with 8kg springs, corona LCAS, AE86 steering arms, camber tops (still to come), new rotors and rebuilt calipers. Should hold up the front end nicely as I didn't really like playing with the RA40 struts

Hmm well I thought I would dig up this thread for a little update as it is near completion.

Engine is sorted with 2" extractors and 40mm Webers. Managed to clear the brake booster with the use of custom ram tubes at 16mm. Still have no air filter though.

Radiator has been customized with the top port moved and the bottom port has also been moved. Water pump bolts were shortened to shortest possible fitting so a thermo fan could be fitted without a problem (still a tight fit though).

Exhaust has been all fitted aswell with a 2" exhaust pipe to a "Supercat" sports muffler at the rear.

The dizzy had pretty much no movement at all thanks to the Weber manifold, so a customized timing tool was machined up, that goes into the side of the dizzy and gripes onto the plate so it can be tuned properly without conflict issues.

It is currently at the auto electricians being re-wired as there was a few exposed wires that wasn't meant to be played around with.

Hopefully the car shall be running next week . . . and when it is there shall be a dyno video hopefully :lolcry:

Ah this thing will be potent when she hits the dyno :y:

Cannot wait to see a vid of it make some good figures.

Keep up the top work Fusion :lolcry:

Cheers for the comment,

it's not a fancy engine, especially compared to 2TG's and 18RG's (which are both teasing my engine at the workshop), but it will be alot better than the 3K that was in it :lolcry:
