toyota_ae71 Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 gday do alot of motorkhana work on bitchumin in my 1987 ae82 4a-c motor, and was wondering how the hell do you hook up a hydraulic handbreak to drums?? and also does anyone know if they are illegal or legal on streets?? Quote
7shades Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 Illegal... Hydraulic Hbrakes don't actually use the standard handbrake cables... you bypass the rear brake lines and run them to a master cylinder attached to a lever in the cabin, then run lines back to the rear brakes. Quote
toyota_ae71 Posted August 28, 2007 Author Report Posted August 28, 2007 well thats gay u'd think they would be safer, stupid bloody road rules thanks for the info anyway!! Quote
towe001 Posted August 28, 2007 Report Posted August 28, 2007 Yes and no.... imagine if the, say, master cylinder gave out or maybe a brake line got punctured Yep, thank phuck for the back-up cable operated hand brake saved my skin once Quote
7shades Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 My hydro brake was in addition to the standard cable one... just an upright lever on a nylon pivot bolted to the side of the trans tunnel. I had all my brake lines running inside the cabin (rally rules) and yeah the master cylinder did spring a leak once. Quote
