theres no way in hell a BA motor would weigh 150kg. and as others have said, the weight is too far forward, the engines too long for the engine bay without firewall mods (and trans tunnel mods for the box you'd need to run) and it will be too high. and youd need sump mods to make it fit too.

i dunno why 1gs have been made a joke? they're quite a good engine. can be made to perform very well in turbo form. that would be my choice if it HAD to have 6 cyls.

i reckon for a cheap shitter engine you can't go past a 4age turbocharged. even with mild boost (10ish psi) on a bigport/smallport than a BA engine, thats with an Ebay manifold and a highflowed rb20/rb25/sr20 turbo, and appropriate ecu and fuel system mods. you would have a much faster motor, and a better handling car. and it could be made alot more legal than a ba motor.

:D see now this is the type of discussion i was hoping for.....see mopar i understand completly what ur tying to tell me, but the whole point (well for me ne way) is to have a unique car, yes the 4age is a perfect candidate but i want to try something different...completly left of centre, while still being road legal.

Rover V8 ne one???

Mmmm very nice. But width might be a problem instead of weight, length and height. Know of anyone thats got a v8 Disco so that measurements can be taken.......

+1 for rover V8....

Chronically unreliable in the vehicles they were released with, but when rebuilt and tweaked they can produce very decent power and monsterous amounts of torque.

Light too....

Agreed

Try and find a 3.0L Brabham Formula 1 version, doubt you would though :D

Definatly would have to agree with the rover v8, i had an early range rover, the "v" in the engine is alot more vertical, as opposed to a 308 or ford clevo, personally i don't think that the rover v8 would be an issue in a rolla engine bay when it comes to width, sump mods would definatly have to be done or reversed to be exact, and the best thing about the rover v8, alloy block and heads, pretty much the whole engine is alloy, and what 7shades said, are unreliable but when running good they go great for the little package that they are!

cheers phatke30!

You could always pick up the ball that i had when i had me '25. Suzuki G13B twin cam motor from a gti swift, gearbox from a serria and crank/rods from the G13 serria motor. Give the gti's block a wink and a nudge, slide the serria crank into the gti block and you'll have 1.5lt

hey man don't steal my idea, ive already sourced one to put in me ke25 lol

i agree thats a good conversion from a diamension/weight point of view, but once again, they are bigger than 2.6l, and a good worked one will only make around 220hpish..

how about a YB cosworth, or 3sgte, 1ggte, 7kte?, 4v v8 toyota, one of them sv21 camry v6's, vg20det etc?

theres a reason certain conversions are extremely popular, its coz they are one of the best choices in more than one way

1MZ-FE aka 3.0 V6 from a 97 to 99 Camry. 141kw standard and with a after market ecu i could see them revving to 7000 rpm all day.

Or get a VH45 up ya.

I've been flogging a 1MZ around occasionally of late... hooked to a 5 speed in fact. f@$ken fantastic engine, even with a camry wagon wrapped around it.

have you thought about a 2.6 astron motor ?

you probably would'nt want it on the street, but ive heard they can be good for

track + strip use, i don't know anything about what you might have to do to get

it in the car, but there was one in a KE20 on ebay a little while ago, so it is certainly

possible

If you're going Astron, might as well go Sirius
