flat out Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 G'day i have recently bought a ke55 rolling shell that had a 4ahe in it, it apeares they have moddified the crossmember to suit stock 4age engine mounts, i was just wondering if any one knows if a 3t will bolt straight in with t18 engine mounts? also is a t18 clutch master cylinder to short for a ke55? i had to extend the small pit that protrudes of the rod, we can't get the clutch pedal to get pressure, any help would be awesome thanks, casey Quote
Jordan Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 stupid question: Why not go with a 4AGE, since the mounts are already there? Jordan Quote
flat out Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 no cash :P plus i would like to go 20v on my other one and not this one, Quote
Jordan Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 use a 2TG, not a 3TC :P not too sure about mounts, best idea so to grab a 2T bottom end, and dummy it up and see what needs doing. Cheers Jordan Quote
flat out Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 IMO 2tg's are over rated. mates just f@$ked one up good and proper and he didnt give it a hole load of curry, 3 tyres in a week once but never reved past 6 grand, droped a valve, rebuilt it, got it running, bang goes a valve, my 2tc would go as quick as a 2tg any ways still open for ideas tho Quote
Rosegum Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 (edited) Any A block motor will bolt to the mounts. Mounts are easily available for other versions that will adapt to your motor of choice. Going outside an A series engine is going to require An engineer certificate, blue plate or whatever it is in your state/territory. From experience no loom change is an easy loom change. I tend to strip the loom and rebuild it the way i need it to be, but if your not real keen try to stay with something that is as close as possible, to the original engine and save the hassle. you may only need a few extra links to get up and running. EFI systems also have extra relay's which you may have to add. Electric Fuel pump and high pressure filter need to go in as well. EFI is a big step but the economy and controlled power make it all worth while. Haven't dealt much with clutches sorry, I've blown more than 20 diffs, half a dozen cv's, several uni joints but never had issues with my clutches or gearboxes, so i've never fiddled. Croc Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 May be a silly question but have you bleed the clutch? Quote
Jordan Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 I've never had bad luck with the 2TG, my old one loved the spankings it got up past 8000. Driven plenty of others no trouble at all. Guess you can't help bad luck Jordan Quote
