Hiro Protagonist Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Well then I hope you've learned your lesson. Never let him stay over. I learned mine. I don't lend my brother cash or help him out, it never comes back. This was a one-off (re his actions, not me letting him stay), and we both know it. He's since apologised, and we've put it behind us. Quote

SLO-030 Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 well alot of people speed down that street. i think theyre picking out random cars or cars that stand out and reporting them, speeding or not. probably thinkin it will stop everyone. What about the Kid that overtakes at 140 on the emegency stopping lane on the left hand shoulder of the highway? Or the lil import driving a shitbox cutting in front of me 20m away from a red light? or the guy drifitng big circles in the car park. Why get the guy that want to keep his licence? Quote
Tume Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 (edited) Wait is all that needs to be done for you to get reported a simple phone call from someone claiming that your speeding? I know what you mean about speeding though I swear the little road I'm on has turned into a highway, atleast with the speed anyway *Whoops, only realised after reading another forum you werent fined, EDITED*. SoulSearcher Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 (edited) I saw a beige-ey silvery skyline (older one) with no number plates, front or back.... do you think you should call the police when that happens, do people who steal cars take off the number plates?? oops wrong thread.... Yep, thats it. under the Community Traffic Watch Scheme. Heres what i got. Dear Sir or Madam I am writing to you as the registered owner of a 1981 HOLDEN UTILITY registration 1 D0NT 5P33D A memeber of the public has reported this vehicle to the police under the "Traffic Watch" scheme because they percieved a person in the above vehicle breached a Traffic Law, in that: At about 8:30 on 17/9/2008 at QUINN ST CHRISITE DOWNS the driver of your vehicle was seen speeding At this stage (SAPOL) have no intention of pursuing the matter further, however if the observations are correct i strongly advise the driver of the vehicle take immediate steps to modify such driving. please remember that road safety is everybodys responsibility and that as a community we should nt engage in behaviour that places ourselves and other road users at risk. The current road fatality and injuy rates are a serious problem and driving standards must improve. Then some more crap Signed by the officer in charge of traffic support. Quote
Tume Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Damn well I guess I should sit outside and start taking down plate names then  The Power in SA is down from Gawler To Adelaide, no idea how far in though. "Traffic Watch"??? some people have wayyyy too much time on their hands! I can't beleieve that there is actually a government body that monitors this! So more than likely the guy that dobbed you in was a weedy geek that thinks that he can save the world by "dobbing in" someone that he believes was breaking the law? haha wow, i didnt think that things like this actually happened, but i stand fully corrected. I think that i would laugh and frame the letter if i even recieved one Quote
love ke70 Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 if you get reported again watch out :P thats what i got told anyway. if you wernt speeding you were probably giving it a bit, which is also illegal technically. just modify your driving in suburban areas, no one wants a driver playing hero to run over their fat red haired 6 year old :P Quote
SLO-030 Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Wouldnt hit a fat six year old anyway. too much messs to clean up :P I wasnt even giving it much. with me ute she don't like changing into 3rd or 4th below 3 grand which is when its at its loudest. A while ago i heard they were trying to bring in a law where you can get pinged for getting up to speed too quickly. don't know how they'll monitor it. probably a fat bloke wearing a wife beater, stubbies and a bucket hat sitting in a folding deck chair with a long neck at every intersection :P Oh well, i didnt get fined which is lucky. but still annoyed there are people out there that have nothing better to do than complain about me on my way to school. bLinded_ Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 What grinds my gears: Having a circuit short out when 15minutes from home whilst running in a new engine :P Works perfectly fine for the 40minutes while your near your house, but once you get out a little further, BAM!, smoke pouring out of the engine bay. :P Also, WGMG, when everything that can go wrong, goes wrong. Damn cars.... Quote

In NSW there is actually laws (or atleast definitions of laws) that cover "excessive acceleration" They can also ping you under the dangerous driving laws if you are found to have accelerated in an inapropriate manner. sucks hey. I know what you mean about getting filthy looks and "slow downs" from people when you arent speeding. when you drive a bright orange torana with a lumpy can and a loud exhaust even at 20km/h people still like to whinge that you are a hoon.. actually, hoon, that word really grinds my gears. Its bullshit, another sensationalist media catch phrase they use to opress the modified car community (in its entirety, not just ricers, or commodore drivers, or muscle car enthusiasts but everyone) Speaking of which, its been over a week since Ive seen an ACA or TT story on hoons and how we are killing people..... next one should be due monday or tuesday next week with more stock footage of clapped out FWD cars doing roll backs and handbrake turns, with the complimentary leb spec VLT doing donuts in the carpark with chasers on the bum... ohhh and can't forget the VN commodore doing helis in the main street... Thats what grinds my gears. Quote
