They wouldn't have eftpos because it would cost them too much... Same as giving a receipt I suppose - too much cost associated. Bet most wouldn't collect the appropriate gst either...

Most small places can't afford to do all the book keeping. Its a lot easier to sort out cash sales.

You have a till of cash at the end of the night, minus the float, paperwork done. You don't need to pay an accountant to keep all the electronic shit together, or you don't need to spend hours sorting it yourself. Source : 5+ years in hospitality, mainly small cafes. This is why I always look for an EFTPOS machine now.

eftpos is also slower for numptys....

numpty hands over a 20 to pay for coffee, you give change. done.

numpty fumbles around looking for a eftpos card, struggles to swipe it the correct way, it doesnt swipe because its got cracks in it, finally works gets pin number wrong twice.

easier to say cash only to keep transaction time consistant.

when i used to work at coles, back when checkout chicks were required and respected! we used to setup cash only checkouts to get things happening quicker. worked good.

Cash ftw. I pay cash everywhere I can.

You'd all hate Japan, Eftpos doesn't exist :P

Credit cards *sometimes* (hotels etc) but otherwise its cash or Pasmo/Suica cards (which are a much, MUCH better idea than debit cards anyway...)

Yeah I'm all about cash too for those small purchases,

But just a quick stop for a dirty burger, people don't realise the effort it is to get in and out of the rolla haha, I'm happy to pay 25c for eftpos charge

Sounds like the Uni card at work. The uni students get one of these cards and put a minimum of $5 on it and they can "buy" things on campus.

Pretty much. Charge it up at a machine or online, leave in wallet, wave wallet at any machine/turnstile/register, deducts value. Display on machine shows you remaining balance. No bank charges whatsoever.

Most Japanese phones actually have the wafer chip built into the case now, so you don't even need the card.

I know why they don't. It's just very inconvenient at times.

Never fear, it's only a matter of time when cash won't be king. The time will come when the merchant fees will get less and less and cash will die with the older generations. Faster tech like the pay pass will work on a debit or prepaid card system and the transaction will be even quicker than cash. Kaching or similar will improve to a point where giving your mate money will be figurative only.

Oh I struggled. Got caught a couple of times when we just couldn't find an at, that would dish out cash and not enough cash to get to our hotel haha.

Just had my laptop updated at work and a number of programs have gone missing. One in particular is required for work but they managed to delete it. Of course the techs no nothing........

Could throw in the disc to reload it but the drivers are so out of date - had issues the last time the laptop was changed in the Windows Vista age as well - and it is pain in the ass being able to use the program to design signs etc but not being able to cut them really gives me the shits. From memory it was a prick to locate the right drivers off the net. Ended up contacting the manufacturure of the cutter last time

ʞ©$ɟ YOU TECHS!!!! :finger:
