Willis Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Such a mole. I can't stand hearing haggard shit like that. Sure, being original can be hard at times but its a slow process, not for everyone but for most people. It really sickens me to think that people exploit music like that. And the fact that people buy into it too..Pisses me right off. I understand why people listen to mainstream music, I get it. It's easy on the ear and you don't have to go searching for it. It doesn't take time, it's right in front of you. It's also marketed for the average/occasional listener. And that's all cool with me, but when you start pulling shit like that gaga mongoloid it's just disgusting. I hate the people that produce it more than her. It's their scheme, their show and their business. She's just a scapegoat. Somewhat of a pawn. It's not hard to catch people with a melody stolen from what was (in the minds of others) one of the greats of pop. It is hard, however to catch people with an honest tune that's been created using your heart, soul, personality and life experiences and to do it on your own. I know people that have worked their entire lives making music and haven't gotten anywhere with it. It's really frustrating when I hear good music that isn't out there for the public because they just can't be bothered to listen to it, because it's too much for their ears, because it wasn't on TV(which is another rant in itself) People don't have to be musicians, die hard music enthusiasts or whatever else you can think of to know what good vibrations are. People just don't care enough to go and find it. But for god's sake, have your own opinion on what good music is, don't just be told what good music is. I've had people say to me that Eminem is a genius(he may well be depending on how you look at it)and that he raps about true shit but since when are "two trailer park girls running around the outside" or "I'm on the valium and lots of drugs" become observations and statements on facts of life. Music is slowly becoming a c**t of an industry because of people like them, people that listen to lady gaga, people that listen to david guetta ft some dumb, tonally deaf ʞ©$ɟ, justin bieber and T ʞ©$ɟING pain. Good artists, and I mean real "artists" are now an endangered species thanks to them. Got a bit frenzied there, back to the original point. Originality is a virtue. If you don't have it, then don't bother. I realise that you have to be influenced by something/someone but leave it as an influence, don't emulate it. Let it inspire YOU and go out and write some music. Quote
carbonboy Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 What really really ʞ©$ɟen grinds my gears is Lady Gaga. Listen to Madonna's "Put your love to the test" and then listen to Gaga's "Born this way" Anyone pick up the similarities? It's pretty much the exact same song. I know pretty much all pop songs are at the same tempo but I'm talking melodies both vocally and musically, arrangement, everything. ʞ©$ɟen mole. I HATE that bitch. And Madonna too..slag. There was a story not long back on not only the music from lady gargle but also some of her videos were nothing but a rip-off from other songs and videos. Hasn't the music industry just been regurgitating itself for the last 20-30 years, hoping that the general public won't pick the similarities? :) Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 It's not regurgitating, its sampling. Which I'm pretty sure is music industry slang for 'I can't be bothered thinking up my own shit, Ill use someone else's, call it a sample and say its a tribute as I really respect the artist'. Quote
towe001 Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 My opinion the worst rehashed ones would have to be the dance or techno tracks. Down right stupid. Occasionally a rehashed version is better then the original, eg - Spiderbaits version of Black Betty, but then again even Ramjams version was better then the original. Spiderbaits version of Riders in the sky was pretty cool. Wind, fog, rain and idiots that don't know how to turn their lights on. Quote
Willis Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 You can make your own samples though. Play your own instrument, record it and use it as a sample. Sampling is for electronic music though.. Covers are stupid unless they're a complete re invention. Or unless they're covering a classic. Quote
ke70dave Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Wind, fog, rain and idiots that don't know how to turn their lights on. damn straight.... when will people learn that headlights arent for you to see....its for people to see you!! main steam music is garbage... ive recently discovered that most good music isnt on the radio. the music that is on the radio is the music that attracts the lowest common denominator, keep the advertising companies happy;) Quote

Willis Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 I don't like Triple J. I don't like any radio stations. Triple J is just another "more indie than you are" wank, if you ask me. But each to their own. Unless it's lady gaga...the slag Quote
irokin Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Wind, fog, rain and idiots that don't know how to turn their lights on. Or people who just turn their parkers on. Parkers are for parking, if you need parkers while you're driving TURN YOUR LIGHTS ON! Quote
ke70dave Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 yeah i listen to JJJ, but there is alot of good stuff out there that doesnt make it to radio. Hard to find though. I have a theory about the headlight arguement... In all the cars i have owned, i have had normal guages with backlit via bulbs. so when it starts to get dark, i can't read the guages and see how fast i am going, so i realise i should probably turn the lights on. (though the subaru turns off the headlights when the ign is turned off, so i just drive around with headlights on all the time now) however new cars have all these new fancy electro luminescent guages, that are always lit up, even during the day (Mazda 2,3,6,RX8 come to mind). So it never gest to the point that they can't see how fast they are going so they don't turn on their headlights untill they cannot actually see the road in front of them....and with street lights and what not...that could be 2hrs after the sun has actually gone down. so we get all these people driving around in the rain who can see their guages perfectly, can see other cars (As they have their lights on), but knowone can see them because they are a tiny silver mazda 2 in the rain at 6pm with no headlights on! IDIOTS! Quote
irokin Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 Those same cars should have auto headlights though Dave! 1 Quote
towe001 Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 The old wide body camry has the auto headlights. but i never liked it cause if you left the lights on high beam, that where they'll be when you start the car again. Good in practice but not a lot of thought was put into it. Mitsubishi does it better, no auto lights thou, if you have the high beam on and turn the lights off, when you go to turn them back on again they'll go straight to low beam. No blinding people cause you can't remember if the high beam is on or not. That was dads problem when we had a wide body. But i think its a typical problem with the wide body drivers, can't be arsed in checking if their high beams are on or not. But then again wide body camry driver just says it all, 2/3's of them got their license from a corn flakes packet. Quote
ke70dave Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 yeah I'm more thinking of when its still relatively light and i suspect not dark enough for the auto headlights to kick in, but its bucketing down with rain so you can't see anything anyway as everything is a white mist. Quote
coln72 Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 The Commonwhore's auto lights on was able to be adjusted for sensitivity. Mine was set so the lights would come on in a multistorey carpark, so basically dark shadows would turn the lights on. I guess that the little light glowing on the dash doesnt tell you that the high beams are on....... :P Actually, in my old HZ ute, the highbeam light was dark blue. Even at night you couldnt see it. And with uprated bulbs in the lights - 80/100W or similar - there wasnt a lot of difference between high and low anyway :rolls: Quote

Some of those little blue lights for the high beam just suck in daylight, my old ke30 and ae82 had the best ones that even a blind one eared dog could see from half a mile away in the daylight. Whereas in our '07 lancer you've got to look for it. Don't ask me about the father-inlaws '01 astra, damn vermin of a car. Quote
