F@*king oath!!! I wish it was pay-for-results, not pay-for-session-that-achieves-jack-all. :(

I was referred to the same ENT specialist last year as the two courses of ear drops and pills weren't working on my ear. I got There and he placed his little telescope in my ear and shoved a camera up my nose all the way to my inner ear(not nice) and said he could not see anything. I explained to him that I had a perforated ear drum, I explained all the symptoms and how i could feel the leak and how liquid would move through the hole.

 

I asked him to take another look he refused and told me to come back after I went and paid for a hearing test and make another appointment with him. $160 fee down the drain and to be told to get a hearing test then pay another $160 to see him again to be told who knows what.

 

Needless to say I just forgot about fixing the issue partly because I was unemployed and broke and partly because I was furious with the service.

 

Fast forward 1 year to now, I still have the perforated ear drum and I have been referred to him again for clearance/treatment for a job in the Defence force. I know I am stupid for not fixing it but at the time it really was the least of my worries. Now it has come back to bite me on the ass and wallet big time!

 

Moral of the story/what I've learnt: Do it once do it right! Who cares about the cost. Specialists are still legalized thieves.

But a part of the centrelink crap that i'm having to go through was of getting a referral from my GP for a hearing test. Needless to say i had to pull the 160 from my credit card only to be told that i have prefect hearing. The doc was WTF cause he even knows i have hearing problems...

 

 

Anywho, went out get some tires today and on the way back home a set of traffic lights changed to red so i did the normal thing and took my foot off the gas and started to coast up to the lights. The car behind me didn't like the idea so it pulled into the other lane and sped off up to the lights and only then did it hit on the braked. The driver tried to abuse me cause i didn't race up to the lights or something, didn't take much notice cause by the time i got to the lights they had changed back to green again.

I swear half of this town drink from the fountain of stupidity.

WGMG - Centrelink...okay, in this country we HAVE a welfare system to support people when they need it (in theory at least). but it'd be great if they were somewhat competent.

 

So far they have: denied me a Widow-Support Payment (female, over 55yrs old, been married...I'm male, under 30 & marriage scares me!) when I APPLIED for Austudy.

- Tried to force me to go job searching when I was studying full-time in my Boat-Building Pre-App & still employed in my job part-time. The two job search agencies I went to heard that, told me to bugger off & tore CL a new one for wasting their time.

- Was questioned about how long I'd been in a relationship with my housemates daughter...who was 8 at the time. :blinks: Hopefully my enraged rant at their supervisor got their ass fired!

- Discovered that every time I'd apply for a payment whilst unemployed, by the time anything happened, I'd already managed to find a job. The way I figure it, it's sometimes easier to find employment than it is to jump through all their hoops.

 

Edit: While I'm on a roll bitching...

 

WGMG - Children...housemates child has dairy/egg allergy so we bust our arses to make sure her diet doesn't contain these. What do you catch her in the act of eating? Double choc-chip cookies...ffs! :bash:

Funny thing is, all them years, i was told not to get water in my ears, and kept having discharges,

 

the one particular 4 month lapse, i tried not to, and wallah it healed and closed up,

 

I'm not sure of your symptons,

 

my moral of the story, listen, not that i could in the first place, haha

Going on 2 years with mine atm, I'm knuckling down and staying out of the water until it has healed now, it is one of the conditions of entry to my new job that it is all healed before I get shipped off.

 

What is it like after it heals do you have to take extra care or is it back to normal?

Have not noticed any discomforts or imbalances

But it does remind me of one place where i use to work the companies management put in a speed hump about double the normal height at the entrance to the staff carpark, it was nicknamed Mt Everest. One of the restaurant managers owned a lowered 300zx and he got stuck on it. Needless to say Mt Everest got chopped in half but it was still a bitch and a third to be forced over it.

Mt Everest wasn't shaped like a normal speed hump, it was more shaped like a "U" but upside down.

These speed bumps are poppin up in maccas alot of late,

 

My car is not low, just the exhaust is a tad low, anyone with a 30 Two door would know (3" exhaust)

 

So if you see my car on the side of the road next to maccas, you will know why, haha
