corolla_nut Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 My opinion lies with the sticker "Ban low performance drivers, not high performance cars" Quote
Redwarf Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 ..... and who decides on who's a high and who's a low performance driver?? Refer sig. vvvvv Quote
JiP Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 I'm over the push to bring back Farnzie. I hear him now at the shops, in adds, radio dj's wanting to bring him back. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NO!!! Quote

Refer sig. vvvvv Driver training ;) Freakin pollies here in SA don't wanna open a track to the public  Even after saturdays horror crash which saw a WRX and Skyline split in half after dragging and hitting one of our power poles. One went as far as saying that everyone that will goto a track is a hoon and they don't want to encourage hoon behaviour. f@$k, why can't they get something right once in a while? Also, no offence but can Bob Jane PLEASE DIE? He gets funding from the government to improve his track, rather than spending money building a new motorsport complex. Then he continues to only open it once or twice a year. Maybe if someone was in control, we might have more of a chance at getting some time to have some fun away from the maui maui. Quote

That would be me then. If you want to race on a track, join a club, go racing. It's almost that simple. You'll find the reason that you can't get into most tracks (ie: public days) is because they're booked almost 12 months in advance. You have 2 tracks in SA. Mallala management need there heads boiled, and AIR needs substancial upgrades. Don't get up Bob, he's been dead for years, just nobody has told him. The simple fact is though, that clubs get the days because they're organised, and they know what they're doing. You may have to pay the premium in CAMS licenses etc, but at least you'll be out there. SoulSearcher Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 there's a heap of hoo haa here in adelaide regarding that accident, it's terrible and tragic, but the bottom line is the guy's were being tools driving at those speeds on those streets, the consequences of a stupid decision has had a major impact on ALOT of peoples lives. With this accident, all P Platers, all young men in hot cars, all people with imported cars are going to feel the back-lash.... My husband and I decided with our girls that when they were driving we would do these things... 1. get them involved with their cars, get them working on them and have them have a personal investment in their car (we thought that they'd take better care of it and take less chances if they'd put in time and their money). Get them involved in a car club, with cruises etc., so they can learn about their car. 2. put them through their 50 hours, BUT ALSO back it up with driving instructor lessons. Make them drive at night, in rain, in sun, in every conceivable way we could think of that they'd encounter. 3. follow up in their first 6 months of driving a defensive driving course in THEIR car. 4. get them to do an advanced defensive driving course in the 2nd six months of them driving. 5. drive with them regularly when they got their P's just to make sure their doing everything they're supposed to. 6. NO PASSENGERS in the first 6 months of driving NO EXCEPTIONS (well except for us!) As parents we don't want our kids injured/injuring/dying on the roads.... ^^^ don't know where that all came from.... end rant. Quote
Lexxi[ke35] Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 My mum never ceases to grind my gears. Yet again we have no veges. Yet again I'm stuck cleaning up her mess while she sits on the phone all night to god knows who. I often think I would be much better off on my own. She put meat in the griller, turned it on and went outside and talked on the phone till it was nearly cooked. Lucky she has me instead of most the girls my age as a daughter. I actually had a go at her last night. She said some weak teenage girl comeback and called someone to bitch about me. Quote

I remember what I was like when I first got my licence and I did some stupid stuff. I don't even have kids yet (one on the way though  ) but seeing what happened on the weekend here in SA makes me worried about my kids getting behind the wheel. I guess all you can do is take an interest in them and their vehicle and hope that they use common sense. What grinds my gears is some of the crap cars and the mods performed to them by young kids with next to no money which almost always renders them unsafe for the road and the occupants. Where are the parents in these situations?? I know for sure that my old man would never have let me perform some of the mods you see kids doing these days let alone letting me drive such an unsafe vehicle...... You can bet your bottom dollar that the cars with these mods and kids in them will very likely not have insurance... All you have to do is have a low impact accident with an expensive car and that's a hell of a long time on $6 an hour to pay it off ;) Quote
orangeLJ Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 all you have to do is have a looksee at some of the project cars on here (not pointing fingers in anyones direction though) and see some of the "dangerous" modifications that come up. Its never usually my driving I'm worried about, its everyone else around me. Its always the unknowns. I know that I can comfortably take X corner at X speed without any hassle, but if Y asshole is driving the other way running two wheels on the centre line....... well, lets just say Id be f@$ked royally. I'm sure a lot of kids don't tell their parents what they do to their cars and lie about what they do. If you had no idea what a supercharger was, you'd probably beleive your son when he tells you its something to make sure the battery doesn't go flat. That's a very simplistic example but its true isn't it? A lot of parents have no idea at all about cars and they wouldn't have a clue what's going on. Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 WGMG (it does every day, but today it's worse than each) - the drawing register and how my work controls drawing updates/revisions etc. It shits me to tears sometimes how poorly it has been set up, but the problem is that we're so far into this project that now is not the time to change it, or even considering changing it. Start afresh with the next major vehicle project maybe, if I push it hard enough _AND_ get lucky, but I doubt it. Quote

I guess I should be grateful my dad has some clue and took an interest then. WGMG x 2 for today - the axe is falling around here at work and I'm probably next. Not cool with a baby on the way. Quote

I hope thats not aimed at anyone in paticular, ay Lexxi? What grinds my gears is my HR guy at work refering to my car as a Piece of shit. i know the bonnet and 1/4 don't match, but man don't rub it in. I'm sure if i called his wife a dog or his daughter S**T id get a punch in the face and be out the door on my ass. Using their power to be able to say what they want, god it shits me off  Quote
