You can however work out a payment plan. Contact the revenue office and organise an appointment and plead your financial case to them (with figures to back you up)

They wont let me cause i have no income..

WGMG is when you screw up your own car due to your own stupidity. I mean when it happens even as a result of an accident its headbanging but when it happens as a result of something YOU did...thats ten times worse.

I know this has been bought up before and i'll most likely get in trouble for saying it but there where at least 50 or more cyclists on the road this morning. There was a massive group of about 50 and then a few here or there.

A point that someone bought up before was that they don't pay rego. Here are some others. Without rego, they don't have ctp insurance. If our car was to go on the road and not have such insurance, we would be penalised.

They don't have brake lights. Again, something we need to have so others can see us slowing down.

Another point is that if we were to be doing 20k under the limit we would be fined as we are a hazard and a danger. But its okay to be a bike doing 40/50k under.

This morning was kaos. Blocking one of two lanes of a busy road during peak hour as the group of 50 attemped to ride up a hill.

If they want to be equals, they need to be able to do the same speed and pay rego that pays for the road they are riding on.

I think you'll find a lot of cyclists have insurance, particularly if they're somewhat serious about it. When I was riding quite a bit I had insurance and I wasn't even that serious.

Honestly, brake lights for bikes? Are you that poor at driving that you can't judge the speed of something infront of you without brake lights?

Bikes have every right to be on the road. Bike registration is the dumbest idea I've ever heard. Yea lets discourage people from using a healthy, environmentally friendly alternative. Right on!

If you stop and have a think about it. The number of cyclists around the place removes other vehicles from the road. So if they wern't cycling they'd have to take some other form of transport, say for instance a car. Now your minute or two of inconvenience on one day would be nothing compared to the hundreds and hundreds of cars that would be on the road otherwise, delaying you EVERY day.

Get used to bikes people, they're going to become more prevalent in Brisbane particularly.

The thing is why do we have a Bikeway? This was on Logan Rd, which is next to the Busway, which is next to the S.E. Freeway, which is next to the Bikeway. Thats what its there for. To take cars off roads and bikes off too.

To the straight edge folks, I don't have a problem with anyone, as long as they don't try to push their values on me. The thing I've noticed about straight edge people is that they often times aren't content with what they do in their own lives. They seek validation by going out and preaching the lifestyle to anywhere that they feel they will be listened to. 99 times out of a hundered these people are under 23 years of age, hell usually under 20. You will find most people have grown out of it by 25.

The people who pick it up later in life are oftentimes those who've had substance abuse problems, but all the little preachy, judgemental little xWankerx kids wouldn't want to accept them since they've done hard drugs and drugs are bad mmmmkay.

Choices like those are ultra personal. I don't understand why xWankerx types come to internet forums to preach. If you ask people fairly early in the piece whether they are xedgex or not and let that influence whether you respect the person or not, you are limiting your life down to a small pinhole of what it ruly is.

At the end of the day, freedom of choice is the most important thing to me. I reserve the right to make any choices I want, whether everyone agrees with it or not. This is how life should be.

People don't appreciate lectures and they don't appreciate this life coaching bullshit that xWankerx types preach. That is why they antagonize you on the forums. Quite frankly most people do some sort of drug, and you're basically offending all of them with your pious judgements on drinking, smoking, and my personal favorite, having dirty monkey sex. Honestly, you are missing out.

If you can't just shut your mouth and get a warm fuzzy feeling inside from your clean living you are in it for the wrong reasons.

A) I don't call myself straight edge anymore because I am under 18 so I'm just abiding the law.

B) I don't preach my beliefs to others. I think that's wrong and something I hate being done to me. I'll say I think people are immature and shit for thinking their the toppest shit in the world for getting absolutely trashed every weekend, but that's more about their mentality than the actual drinking.

C) I don't care if others drink, like you said, every one has the freedom of choice. But there are certain limits and situations where they're just doing it to be "cool" where I think its just stupid and immature. But I don't have a go at people for it and I don't like them any less, sure sometimes I'll judge them for their behaviour eg getting trashed coz its "cool", but I won't respect them or their opinion any less.

D) It's not sex in general, its promiscuous sex, meaning having sex with lots of different people. Having sex with one person is fine. I don't see that as missing out.

E) I have a friend who used to do drugs and started smoking at the age of nine. Then she turned straight edge, I didn't love her any less becasue of her past substance abuse. And I have many friends who drink and do drugs to high heaven, and I don't love them any less, as long as they don't go overboard when I'm around, which upsets me, not make me hate them.

I don't know if your comment was directed at me personally or just anyone who is straight edge, but that is my defence.

I was driving along south road yesterday, and a cyclist was on the inside lane (I have no issue with most cyclists, they're like motorists, there are some good ones and quite a lot of freaking bad ones that give the others a bad name). Now most of the time although the below scenario pisses me off, I have a huffy breath and move forward, but what I'm seeing more and more is this (and it's what I saw yesterday, and what's prompted me to mention it)....

Ok. It's peak hour, lots of cars on the road. There's a cyclist or two just doing their thing, so I indicate to change lanes and go around them (cause it's way too close otherwise, and I figure I'm being considerate)... so I finally manage to get in the other lane, move past the cyclist, get back into the left lane (because I have to turn left up ahead) get up to the traffic lights which are red, and a couple of seconds/minutes later the cyclist arrives, but he decides to go through the red light, up on the footpath past the traffic lights and back on the road! Ignoring the red light (and meaning I have to change lanes and go around him again!).

What particularly annoys me is that he's not following road rules. He ignores the red light, travels on the footpath, then gets back on the road... WHY can't he stop at the traffic light like other road users?

and that is what GMG!

Running a red light on a bicycle now attracts a $231 fine in Adelaide. Shouldn't be too long before this cuts down the occurrence of this type of thing.

On the bike argument, I'm all for people getting fit, but ffs pick your times better. Riding three a breast on Upper Sturt Road during peak hour when people are trying to get to work is just stupid.

Same goes for caravans, we get it you are retired, so stay in bed and wait till everyone else has gotten to work before you clog up the road to go and get your brakes or whatever checked before your next "grey nomad" adventure....aghhhhhhh

Yeah it was directed at you and anyone else who jumps on a car forum to talk about their life choices, and the life choices of others. Comment on yourself, sure, but you have no right to bring anyone else into this. If I was one of your friends and read what you had written about me drinking and doing drugs to be cool, Id honestly be telling you to f@$k off for good. A good slap in the face would be in order. How dare you? I know you'd say something like, 'oh but I just care about you people and I don't want you to get hurt', when in actual fact, you care more about judging people.

I think there is quite a few things you have overlooked in all your wisdom.

You do not give any creed to the enjoyment these people are giving themselves with their behaviour. The use of any drugs is a highly personal thing. Not something that a straight edge teenager would understand. Have you ever heard of DMT? Its a psycho active drug, that your body produces in massive quantities while you have REM sleep.

When you wake up, its gone. There is no hangover, or life changing evil consequences. Quite frankly every time you dream, you are using DMT. The reason that many people like to take it sober is because they are seeking an awareness of dreams, and some greater understanding of their own mind. So face it, every time your head hits the pillow, you are mainlining a psycho active drug, straight into the brain.

Now can you begin see how connected humans are to this type of thing, and why some people are curious and experimental about things? There is a big wide world out there full of information, facts and experiences you will never know about, because you are shutting off a lot of what it is to be human. You have been handed a simplified understanding of the world by a number of factors, religion, government, parents, a million different things. Its up to you to break the mold and think for yourself. That doesnt have to involve doing drugs, but it does involve seeking a greater form of understanding than 'people are just doing it to be cool'.

It seems to you anyone who is drinking or doing anything you don't agree with, is just trying to be cool. That is judgmental as hell, and a big slap in the face to anyone who reads it with a coldie in their hand. That's your interpretation and it really just comes off like you are really really naive and afraid of the world.

For thousands or possibly millions of years, humanoid life forms have used mind altering substances to do many things, have spiritual experiences, for personal enjoyment, medicines, rites of passage, recreation etc. Just because you live in the most prohibitionist and conservative society of all time, isn't any reason to forget the past history of humans and our ancestors. Have you ever read any books on shamanism, considering all your wisdom?

People do these things because they choose to, and you have no right to comment on anything about their lives. You telling me they think they are cool for doing it is your simplified understanding. You have no right to tell anyone what someone else is thinking, because there is no way you could possibly know. You thinking you do is a massive sign of stupidity, quite frankly.

You don't give anyone any credit for having made their choices, and being willing to live with the consequences.

On the issue of sex, who are people trying to impress with their coolness by sleeping around? They have no ongoing connection with their sex partners, so its not them. I know I couldn't care less who my mates are shagging, so its probably not the peer group of friends, oh my god, maybe they actually enjoy sex? No way, they must just be trying to be cool and show off.

I'm not saying its fine to sleep around, do hard drugs, or get pissed as a newt 7 nights a week. I am saying that you have a lot to learn about respecting the choices of others and a lot of personal growth required to get to a point where the behavior of others is rightfully understood as none of your damn business.

You don't have to agree with me, in fact I expect you will not. I'm fine with that. You don't even have a patch of an understanding about these people. For you to call them friends the way you are judging them and insulting their intelligence is a massive stretch.

Would you be comfortable showing your friends this thread with all you have written about them and their choices?

I can't believe you typed something that long on it, but very very well said.
