HI all, looking to do front disc conversion on ke10.

I have read the section in FAQ about this and had a couple more questions.

http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?tit...ont_Disc_Brakes

If you go for the ke55 disc/calipers do you still use the ke20 hubs? or can you use a later model hub (eg ke30,55 etc...)?

Can you readily get the ke10 bearing sets? and if so does anyone know where from?

I assume once this is complete then you need to go to 13inch rims to get clearace on the calipers?

Does anyone have any photos of the conversion?

Thanks,

Anthony

Hi,

I am doing this conversion now. So I know you need to go to KE20 stub axles and drill and tap them. But if you have front disc brakes on the KE1X of yours you could drill and tap those stub axles. BUT i wouldn't as there rare and I left mine complete as if you want to restore the car back to 100% original you can.

As for rims I know for a fact that yes you need 13 inch rims to clear the calipers. Also if your worried about the speedo being out if you get the right size tire profile it wont change. I have that written down some where so Ill have to find it again for you.

Cheers

Cameron

P.S. Look in my KE15 sprinter thread I think there is more info on this swap there.

Thanks for that.

Btw the FAQ specifies that the ke20 hubs must be be KE10/mazda stud pattern. Is there an easy way to tell?

Would be very keen to see some photos of your conversion.

grab a measuring tape and check the PCD distance. ke20/early mazda have a 4x110 pattern.

If you measure from the centre of one stud to the centre of the stud diagonally opposite this is called the Pitch Circle Diametre -PCD. This is how you can check what stud pattern it is. Any tyre place will be able to help you out with this. As far as the difference in speed -Negligible?

I changed my Ke20 to Ke30 stud pattern by changing the disc and backing plate/calliper. I then had a greater choice of wheel fitments. I then had my rear axles redrilled to suit.

Good Luck

4-stud patterns only of course, 5 stud patterns need a bit of guesswork... :)

Thanks guys.

I used my trust $20 aldi digital calipers to check this one out. Guess what I measured 110mm.

Btw - doing the brake conversion is there any real advantage to going to the ke55 disc/calipers over the ke20.

Reason I ask is that I have sourced a good pair of ke20 hubs, rotors calipers etc....

Thanks,

Anthony

There is a major advantage, for starters you get 114.3 stud pattern, which is th same as sigma, celica, nissan silvia. In other words your choise of wheels will become your choise , and the bracking

is better I belive.

Good luck Ben
