Actually, the Carlos signed pic was from my partner - he went to Rally Oz a few years ago and took this awesome pic, got it developed and then later snuck into an area he shouldn't be in and got Carlos to sign it.

He isn't a huge Toyota or Carlos fan, so when we were talking about a present for Rob, he mentioned it - thought it might be more appreciated by Rob. Really sweet I thought!! :D

As an old woman (go easy, I'm only 28!), I reckon older men rock!! :P

The plates are a really cool present - Mrs Redwarf put lots of thought into that one and we chatted about it. That was 2 big secrets I had to keep in the same week!! (the other being the gender of the bub and that I knew the name he was going to get) I nearly exploded I tell ya!! :)

Heh, I've been wanting to get a set of plates for Hal for awhile now (like, since I bought the shell itself back last September...), but yeah - I can't seem to justify the monies :) Although, that said - it would allow more air to my oil cooler, so maybe I can justify it as a "performance mod" :P

Yes but you have to pay for slimline "ordinary" plates too... And if you're already going to be forking out money for plates I recon you might as well get "cheapo" custom ones (ie 3 digit 2 letter or 3 letter 2 digit)

not thru PPQ. You can get them from QLD transport and they are considerably cheaper...something along the lines of $30. I'll ask dad when he gets home. He managed the PPQ contract for a few months so hes got the info....

I looked up the Qld Transport website:

http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/qt/faqs.ns...a25691000810ce5

Basically in order to get a slimline plate, first you have to "customise" your plate. This costs $65.80, and basically what happens is they make 2 new plates that are identical to the ones you already have, and you get to keep these for life, even if you change cars etc.

To get the slimline option, you pay an additional $33.90.

So, all up it will cost you $99.70 to get slimline plates that are pretty much identical to the ones you already have, except one of them is well... slimline.

Not worth it I recon...
