Nitephyre Posted August 4, 2007 Report Posted August 4, 2007 That should just be the next Corolla in all shapes :o Quote
turbo_rolla Posted August 5, 2007 Report Posted August 5, 2007 id buy one if they released them over here. The 1.5L engine wouldnt be a huge worry, being about 88kw or something from what's been said. Sure its probably not as tough as a 4age, but how many people slap ADM 86kw engines in their rollas now? Definately like the red with black style from a couple up the best though! Hopefully its a) released and b) makes aussie shores :o Quote
anastasios Posted August 5, 2007 Report Posted August 5, 2007 omg imagine it had traction control Quote
Raven Posted August 5, 2007 Report Posted August 5, 2007 I honestly think bringing backa model that is relevant to an AE Eighty-Sucks is a bad idea. I very much doubt it'll happen. Leave the drift wankers to play with there Sprinturds :o Quote
jrs_ke11 Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 there better be a sportivo version!!! 2ZZ supercharged. will be interesting what sussy they use Quote
ancullen Posted August 6, 2007 Report Posted August 6, 2007 They definitely won't use the 2ZZ-GE or 2ZZ-GZE - the new ZR-series motors completely replace the ZZ-series. My guesses would include the following: Cut-down IS200/Altezza platform (possible) Aisan manual transmission as used in Altezza/IS200/MX5 (HIGHLY likely) 1.5L 1NZ-FE entry level motor (EXTREMELY likely) 150,000 Yen starting price (quite possible, expect more like $25-30,000 starting price in Australia - bigger basic motors though) 1.8L 2ZR-FE motor used (HIGHLY likely, probable basic motor for Australia) 2.0L 3ZR-FAE motor for sports model (EXTREMELY likely) Forced induction for top of the range model (possible) Quote
7shades Posted August 7, 2007 Author Report Posted August 7, 2007 I would wager 2rz-fe, basic spec and no frills for sub-rolla pricing (Base model) 3zr with nicer interior, electric things and a pissweak factory bodykit for just under 30k. Possibly an optional auto. (Sportivo) I suppose its just rude of me to request a convertible variant isn't it.... The GF wants one with no roof... Quote
78_7kRolla Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 mmmmmm. can't wait. good p-plater car! Definately a market for it in AUS. (and in my garage). Quote
JiP Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Well if there was a topless/hardtop version, It would compete with Holden and their new Astra. (I think, whichever one is a topless/hardtop) Quote
andro0o Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 i really hope theyre jsut smart enough to remanufacture the original 86... not this homo girly looking thing. Quote
anastasios Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 lol they will never make a new original 86 man, say it costs 15gs, whos going to buy one they will make no profit, which is important to manufacturers these days Quote
KERAZY Posted August 11, 2007 Report Posted August 11, 2007 (edited) id buy one if they released them over here. The 1.5L engine wouldnt be a huge worry, being about 88kw or something from what's been said. Sure its probably not as tough as a 4age, but how many people slap ADM 86kw engines in their rollas now? Definately like the red with black style from a couple up the best though! Hopefully its a) released and b) makes aussie shores :y: I'm going to side with this reply 100%. It's a good-looking car, it's got 'decent' power, and I'd love to see them putting around Oz. If that's 88kW at the wheels though, then no thanks. Edited August 11, 2007 by KERAZY Quote
JiP Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 Does anyone know if the Supra is still in production?? If so it'd still be rear wheel drive right?? As for the gear box they can get it from one of their commercial vehicles can't they?? Speaking of which, here's a useless fact. The Toyota Hi-Lux and the Holden Rodeo are still made by the same company even though they now look differant. Quote
ancullen Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 The Supra's been out of production since about 2003. I didn't know about the Hilux and Rodeo being made by the same company. :hmm: The commercial transmissions would either be too heavy or too expensive. Quote
JiP Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 If not the same company the same country, which i find funny cause they've always looked a like. Quote
