Raven Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 Does anyone know what I would look up in the yellow pages to get something like that done? My door has dropped on the driver side and it has heaps of play (I can lift the door up and down) so was wondering who can do that type of work to fit new and larger pins to my door hinges. Cheers Raven Not fussed if I have to send it off interstate or whatever in a few months time but I'm located in Adelaide. Quote
love ke70 Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 i know you don't like me, but i looked into this a couple of years ago for my ke70. on the ke70, and I'm gonna guess its the same on your 25(?). basically, in the hinge, there is a brass bush inbetween the pin and the hinge. this is what wears and lets the door sag. i went to harrison early spares which is in this area and it was about 60 + per hinge to buy what i needed, so i decided that i couldnt be bothered. and actually bought some tough bolts, ones with the allen key head in and drilled out the hinge, put a hole through the bolt for the split pin, and never had an issue with floppy doors again. i think i had to trim the head down on one side to clear a bolt to get it to sit flat, but it was definately a cheap alternative Quote
Raven Posted July 29, 2007 Author Report Posted July 29, 2007 Hmm, interesting. Wouldn't happen to have pics would you Andrew? And I don't not like you, I don't like the way you conduct yourself sometimes, thats all. :y: Quote
love ke70 Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 i don't have any of the hinges and the car is now sold to a genious that crashed it into a gutter within a week. but, i ahve some bolts still, so i may be able to grab a hinge and do a little demo. but just imagine, take a bolt, put it in place of the pin. then work out the technicalities Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Raven I have the factory manual for KE1X cars with similar hinge and how to fix it. All you do is fit new bushings and pin. Ill scan the page later tonight for you so you can have a read. Cameron Quote

Cameron now step out into the real world and find a price on replacement bushings. i said that the brass bush doo daa is what wears, and was also going to cost a fortune to replace. if you know of somewhere to get them cheap id love to know. i never tried genuine....but i don't reckon they would still do them anyway... philbey Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 If anyone has access to a lathe somewhere, (ie - sign up for a machining course at tafe) you could turn a couple of bushes up in no time. Quote
mdw003 Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 Hey guys, I'm having a similar problem with my ke16 (drivers door sag) and came across some pin and bushing kits for a ke20 on ebay, My question is are ke1x and ke20 hinge pins the same (or close enough) to get away with sticking a pair of them in? any help would be appreciated cheers Quote

mdw003 Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 This is the set that I was looking at http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-COROLLA-DOOR-HINGE-PINS-KE20-KE25-TE27-KE30-KE35-TE37-TE55-KE70-TE71-TE72-/190663681094?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c6470e446 Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 These are the guys that do the terrible quality rubber kit so I'd be wary. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 I thought you could drill them out a little and fit a bigger pin? Quote
mdw003 Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 Yeah they look cheap, but they would be better than the ones I took out, the bushings were gone and the pin was bent at the moment I'm not sure where to go with it. Quote
parrot Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 They're $17 posted. I reckon they are worth a go. And if they are bigger, as said just drill them out. Quote
