May the fours be with you Yota Quote
smacko84 Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 mate that sucks, hope you can recover it in one piece. I guess you just gotta hope that Karma comes along and puts things right or something like that :P Quote
JiP Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 I'll keep an eye out. I've you tried to see if its been dumped on any of the back roads/new housing estates?? Quote
Nitephyre Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Mate, that really f@$king sucks :P Hope you get her back in one piece Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 Oh mate, no way. You are one person who really didnt deserve this! All I can say is karma will take care of it, don't stress too much. I might know where i can find you another ae71 really cheap, but its a sedan. Let me know if I can help in any way. Heres hoping you forgot to tighten something and they crash and die. Matt. Quote
JiP Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 they crash and die. I'd be hoping that they just die. Atleast that way you get your car back. Its mostlikely just a joy ride. Sadly half the time when they dump them they torch them. One place they use to dump them was the Karawatha State Forest. They drove them off the cliffs of the quarrie. Don't ask me how they got them in, I only saw them when me and me mates whent swimming durring summer. Quote
Yota Posted July 25, 2007 Author Report Posted July 25, 2007 Littleredspirit - sucks huh? bewteen you and roscoe I got the parts to get it back on the road only last sunday, still with roscoe's rattly top end on the replacement motor, and it was running shithouse to boot... almost undrivable with any throttle until it warmed up. didn't even get a chance to change engine number on rego :-( did a cruise tonight of all the old dumping spots i know of, but no luck - tried servos for drive-offs too - only one close hit but unlikely due to the time, plus the ones they were talking about stole diesel - tried far enough around the servo for when it would have died just in case... more cruising tomorrow I guess, and hope they et sick of it enough to dump it without torching... smacko84 Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 might pay to just poke up a photo? just to get those who are keeping their eyes peeled an destinct image to look for... just an idea. Unlucky again mate. Quote
sammo[RL] Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 I know what your going thru, same happened to me bout 5 years ago. Got it back in 1 piece. Ask a few cabbies, and offer them 100 bucks if they see it, and you get it back. An uncle of mine did that, and a couple of cabbies spotted his falc, and he got it back. Win-win. Good luck. Quote
tas_ae71 Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 unfortunately old Toyota's are way too easy to steal! hearing this makes me want to get on and put that immobilise in hats been sitting in my room for months. i would also recommend this, they are cheap as chips and fairly easy to install. it may buy you time only but it maybe enough for someone to see... Quote
JiP Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 I'd recommend an alarm or immobiliser too. A week after I had my alarm installed someone tried to steel my car while at work. Best investment ever. There is no way I'm taking my other two cars out into public until they too have been fitted with an alarm, immobiliser and central. Until then they wear club-locks while sitting at home. Quote

Ive noticed (only with ke70's as i own one) that when the locks and keys wear i can use my key to open two of my other mates kesevs and one i can even use mine to start his car. I have put Solex locks on since (the kinda wierd ones from supercheap etc with round keys), just adds that bit of peace of mind. and yes any news? Quote
Yota Posted July 27, 2007 Author Report Posted July 27, 2007 sorry, no news yet... unfortunately no photos of this car other than tailgate - not much help when identifying it. there's a similar one in the tradingpost for $2,000 (been on sale earlier than theft) if you need to see what they look like. mine is distinct with grubby handprints on the left tailgate and around bonnet from pushing it during engine install, and scratched from the block and tackle chain on the drivers front guard. passenger side guard and door keyed before i owned it. wiring for the towbar is on a flexible flat connector so it can go inside the boot when not in use... hope someone finds it intact... yota Quote
