Doogs Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Hey all, For selecting my cam i want to make sure that i will be sitting well within the rev range of my cam at highway cruising speed, so do any of you guys know, for your stock or modified k (preferably 4k, as i will have) What rpm are you sitting at when you are at 100kph, in top gear ? What is the stock diff ratio, or current ? (i can't find the stock one anywhere) What is the stock wheel diameter/yours ? Also, just out of interest, when does your engine start to valve bounce ? Cheers guys, your help is much appreciated Quote
philba Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 My KE70 with 4K and K50 will rev at about 3500 in 5th at 100kph, and about 4000 in 4th. The diff is either a 3.9 or 4.1, don't know exactly and my wheel/tyre combo is 14x5(?) and 185/65R14 Quote
Doogs Posted July 22, 2007 Author Report Posted July 22, 2007 thanks philba, does anyone have similar figures to this, what about with a 4 speed ? cheers Quote
Wood§tok Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 liberty sits at 2800rpm @ 101kph mmm... usable 5th gear... Quote
ChrisGT Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 use this web site: http://akb.norbie.net/Public/Gearing.aspx u need to know the gear ratio's of your box thou because it dosnt have the early corolla boxes stored in there. Quote
philba Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 (edited) The 4 speed has a 4th gear ratio of 1.00:1 as does the 5 speed. Most (not all) gearboxes has a 4th gear ratio of 1.00:1 or direct and 5th and/or 6th are overdrives. And as for the old 3 speeds, 3rd will direct (1.00:1). As for a list of ratios for the K series boxes, I will find a link for you soon. I have seen them Edit:- It's in the FAQ Edited July 22, 2007 by philba Quote
Doogs Posted July 22, 2007 Author Report Posted July 22, 2007 cool, i figured that 4th would be about 1:1, and 5th an overdrive, but was not sure. thats all good though, as the rev figures confirms that a cam with a range of 2000-7000rpm is going to be good for a street driven 4k, but i won't be thinking about changing boxes till later down the track, along with putting in an lsd, thanks for your help guys Quote
