Tally Posted April 5, 2008 Author Report Posted April 5, 2008 (edited) overrated!love it dude, you should put up a pic of it with rims and fender mirrors :) hahah Fender Mirrors = tick!, Rims = tick! Got em already, just need to wait till the engine bay is all done and then ill put all my good stuff on when its back together ;) Well got down and dirty today. Got engine out, high pressure cleaned the engine bay, waited for it to dry and spent the rest of the day using a wire brush and an electric wire drill to scrape off all the surface rust that had accumulated on all the steering components. Still need another full days work to get most off. Had to use the KE70 to pull the car back to pressure clean it. We pushed it onto the car ramps with ease but the brakes seized up again lol so we had to pull it off with the KE70 again... Looks like I might have to look at the brakes next.. :hmm: God I hate rust.... Edited April 5, 2008 by Tally Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 Man that is a real overrated 25 you've got there, if youre real worried about the surface rust on struts and crossmember its pretty easy to drop it down and give it some paint. for those couple of Q's You can degrease youre steering box, the top bit is shiny alloy  You should use a bit of etch on the bare metal patches, the acylic stuff is pretty thin and see through, so just brush some on if you like. To get the broken studs out drill through the remaining bit with a drill just small enough to not take the threads off, and use 'easy outs', or just pick the remainder out of the threads if you get it good enough. :hmm: Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 looks good, will be a really nice 25 when your finished all this hard work. If only my 25 wasnt my daily i would be doing something like this. Full strip down rebuild. Keep up the good work :hmm:  Quote
fusion Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 Why not take out the parts for powder coating. I could reccomend a guy who did some efi manifolds for a rally guy I know. Costed him like $40 aswell and it looked pretty neat  Quote
Tally Posted April 7, 2008 Author Report Posted April 7, 2008 (edited) looks good, will be a really nice 25 when your finished all this hard work. If only my 25 wasnt my daily i would be doing something like this. Full strip down rebuild. Keep up the good work :) Cheers man appreciate it ;) Why not take out the parts for powder coating. I could reccomend a guy who did some efi manifolds for a rally guy I know. Costed him like $40 aswell and it looked pretty neat :hmm: Yea man I initally wanted to do sumthing like that!!! But I thought it would be too expensive. But $40 bucks!!! Sounds wild!!! Let me know What I thought I would do was just do a quick job for now so I can get it on the road asap, just for the all japan day. Then towards the end of the year I was gonna fix it up properly. Tally Posted April 14, 2008 Author Report Posted April 14, 2008 Front panel is painted :) Finished getting all the rust off. Cleaned front panel and steering componets from all grease and dirt, primed it and painted it matt black. Didnt paint the entire engine bay as I just wanna get it on the road asap :) Started putting the panels back on aswell. Looks mean az!!! Looks pretty good now. Engine should be in sometime this week hopefully :) can't wait, gonna be fun az. Quote
Tally Posted April 17, 2008 Author Report Posted April 17, 2008 and the engines in!!!! was a bitch to get in, but we eventually got in lined up with the gearbox and it slid in well. didnt have a engine crane so just used the bobcat, bit overkill but its all good. also as its a KE70 engine there is all these hoses around the carby and this big hose that runs around the head which I took off already. What can and can I not take off as I think half of it is really un-necessary? Hopefully get it running soon, just need to figure out how I'm going to connect the accelorator cable to the carby, buy a thermo fan and do something about an exahust.... arghhh... when you think your just about finished you still have stuff to do... Cheers Tally Quote
Raven Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 Use your original manifold and rejet your 3K carb :( I did that on my KE36 when i slapped a 4K in it and it originally had a 3K. Quote
Sim Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 nice work dude, its looking the goods! have you got a picture of the fender mirrors?? i want a set for my daily wags but can't really seem to find any. Quote
dfunkt Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 tally, get yourself a throttle cable from a ke3x/5x/7x to attach to the 4k carbie... or just do as raven suggested and use your current 3k inlet and carbie Quote
Tally Posted April 19, 2008 Author Report Posted April 19, 2008 Hey guys Thanks for that because I had a bit of trouble yesterday when we got it running LOL. Well what happened right was that because of the KE70 manifold and its emission shit it was the biggest bitch to put the starter motor on and fit all the wiring as well. Also I had to use my old starter motor from the 3K as the bolts where not long/big enough for the ke70 one for some reason :( Well after I got everything connected and ready to go, and after a headache with the fuel pump I finally got it started. Started first go, was a bit loud because of no exhaust but it worked and I was happy. But ran into a few problems. We did a temporary job on the throttle cable so it wouldn’t idle and would conk out lol. And those hoses that I mentioned before.... they flow water through them so when we filled her up all the water came gushing out. So I compared it with my KE70 and found out that they are supposed to lead to each other around the head. So am going to go down to u-pull-it and find a ke70 and pick off all the parts I need. And about the 3k carbie and manifold. That’s exactly what I was going to do. The 4k carbie and manifold has all this emission shit and the manifold wont bolt up to the exhaust system as it’s a different shape. Do I have to re-jet the 3k carbie? So, yea I'm going to put the old manifold on and fix it up. Hopefully it should be smooth sailing after that. Also I HAVE NO BRAKES!!!!!!!! I need to fix them ASAP before All Japan Day! They are seized and are totally screwed lol What’s the easiest upgrade I can do? KE30 brakes and callipers??? Cheers Tally Quote
