don't sell it dude. these little set backs happin with old cars. i understand its hard with very limited $ but maybe next time it comes to getting a new notor just buy one even if u not hear it running and tear it down and fully rebild it my 5k cost me $2000 all up and thats new everyting a lumpy cam and port/polish and head skimed, its only got extractors running into a standard exhaust and running a standard 4k carb but still smokes "v-tec"honda integras. that just my $0.02c.

but you have worked so hard on this so far and trust me once you got a rebuilt motor you will be in love with the car all over again  .

good luch bud,

Brodie(reTRD)

yep know what ya mean but I don't wanna have to build an engine.

WOW! your selling ? yes i agree very unfortunate and you wanted to buy my car a few times.

the trick with a restoration or modification is to stop messing around with the lil shiny bolt on bits and do the real stuff like acid bath car, sand blast and body repair, then complete engine over haul ect ect.

water in the oil will most likely require head weld then shave and a valve regrind gasket set, prolly se ya back 400 all up.

you could just park it for 6 months spray some fish oil around rust and edges and see how your finances go.

Yes I totally agree, I spent a few dollars on some cool parts which could have waited till I got the engine sorted.

But I guess thats just how things panned out.

Tally, please do not take this personally but seriously you are young. You need mentoring and direction. Unfortunately I am nto in SA so cannot help directly but if you take a hell of alot of pics and slow do things I am sure that us and yourself will have more than a good ability to direct you. I would recommend that we look at rebuilding your motor. Yes it can be done over the internet but it will take time. Do you still have the first motor? can you do a compression check on her first? then we can slowly pull the head. I have only ever built a 7M (which is a mates for his supra) but building engines is building engines. If the motor is not in bad shape then it might be just a clean up and head gasket issue. Just need to do diagnostics. I build stupid amounts of cars (for hobby not work) and seriously I can afford to do so because I do things on the cheap.... IE I work out what I require not just replace stuff. Need to read the motor. It concerns me that you have had this issue twice now, but lets move on...

How else are you expecting to a. learn and b. commute if you don't have a car??

Cheers

Ok yep I understand your reasoning. Firstly, I did a commpression test on the first engine and it was piss weak, pulled of the head and it was rooted. I didnt just say ohh its stuffed, lets get a new one. I tried to fix each problem the best I could using my available time, money skills and resources.

Secondly, I don't wanna build a engine for this car, never do I ever wanna build an engine. I never intended that id have to. I was just looking for a straight bolt in engine that was running good enough to chuck in and drive it. People do it all the time so I figured id do the same. Ive just had a run of bad luck me thinks.

Yes the engine might be fine, it might only be something minor, but the mere fact (and I said this before) that I will have to spend more to get this thing going bothers me. It all comes down to the money issue.

I am moving on, I'm selling up going to buy something thats already done and ill add my personal touch to it.

And I bought this as my first car, so when I found out the engine was stuffed I went and bought a KE70 and this turned into my project car. People sell project cars all the time. Why? Money/commitments/all sorts of reasons.

And yes I probebly will regret selling it but at the end of the day its just a car that is not going to go anywhere soon in my hands.

Lastly id rather someone restore this thing to its former glory while parts are still available rather then me just thrash the shit out of it lol. Who knows how hard it will be to find good parts for these things in the future, apparently it is getting harder already.

Cheers

Finding parts is half the fun.

Knowing where to look is really the key.

What would you say if I came out and helped you get it going Tally, only on the condition that you keep it?

No probs.

I have some spare engine parts I can donate too from a spare 4K i have sitting around.

Its worth considering. I know you'll kick yourself for selling the classic and installing some white paper out the roof of your KE70 tissue box to give it the kleenex look

ill throw in some help/time too, not sure if any of my parts will help all 3k stuff. I have a good head here too but i think its 3k if there is any difference.

Yeah it'll bump up the compression a bit, not sure how much though.
