Timmeh Posted July 12, 2007 Report Posted July 12, 2007 One of my dads mates had this just sitting on his back lawn so i decided to buy it for $50 (not the best photo) The only thing really wrong with it was just the outside and inside of the car. All the engine and gearbox and stuff worked fine and was in good condition. Since my dads a panel beater he gave it a respray so the white wouldn't look as dull and put new tires and rims on it. After that the interior needed a cleanup and new seats were needed. We also tinted the windows, put a pioneer DEH-P3950MP head unit in and 2 pioneer front speakers. Then we put some seats in gave the interior a good clean up and this is the final result. Now i want to get some subs and amps for it. And maybe later some engine mods...if theres much i can really do to it. If i can't maybe just a whole new engine All up we spent around $1500 on fixing it up. But my dad reckons we'd be able to sell it for $3000 Quote
deri2k3 Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 looks nice, why are you gonna sell it? Quote
Nitephyre Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 Unless you actually fixed every piece of rust in it properly with metal, proper respray, replaced the cracked dash surround and freshened up the driveline etc then you won't get $3000 for it. As is, you've done a nice job it seems and you'd probably get around $1500. Or just keep it as they rule :) Quote
Timmeh Posted July 13, 2007 Author Report Posted July 13, 2007 nah i don't want to sell it. love the little thing, my pride and joy haha. thats what i said i didn't think i'd be able to get it for 3000 unless the person wasn't to bright. when i do more to it i'll post up more pictures. but for my first car i'm pretty happy with it, be good for band gigs for equipment and for partys cause if i end up having a few drinks i can just leave a mattress, pillow and sleeping bag in the back and crash in the back xD but its only 2 seater which is a bit annoying but good cause i won't be a taxi for my mates Quote
Viktor Posted July 13, 2007 Report Posted July 13, 2007 (edited) Yeah being a taxi sucks. Really nice panel van. I'm thinking of getting one for a first car. Edited July 13, 2007 by Viktor Quote
Timmeh Posted July 14, 2007 Author Report Posted July 14, 2007 it was a pretty lucky find. my dad cause he is a panel beater for his own business, and for his shed work place it connects onto a house which we put out for rent and the person living in that house just had it on its front lawn rusting away and shit. and we offered $50 bucks for it. but a problem is it was difficult for us to find replacement parts because now they are pretty rare. thats what the wreckers and shit said. jamesrolla Posted July 15, 2007 Report Posted July 15, 2007 nice find man, chrome bumper and all, interior looks pretty neat, its a nice simple neat looking rolla Quote
flat out Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 i like it, is it a special model as i have never seen them with chrome bumpers and that front end, looks like a T18 Quote
Timmeh Posted July 16, 2007 Author Report Posted July 16, 2007 i wouldn't have a clue. I am pretty sure the chrome bumpers were on when we purchased it. Cheers. Quote
JiP Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 I think that the early KE70's came with chrome bumpers. I'm assuming that they would be the KE70's that overlapped the KE55's. (79,80,81). Quote
7shades Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 I'm led to believe that the early KE70 (low roof) panelvans were fully imported... Hence chrome bumpers and TE style front end amongst other small differences. I'd be interested to know what diff this thing has... Quote
Nitephyre Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 You would be fully correct. They started building them here as the AE71 high roof panelvans. I have one of each  Quote
