SoulSearcher Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 Today, whilst driving my "spare" car, because the rolla is in the work shop I thought to myself, oh my god I'm sick of driving this car (U13 Nissan Bluebird), I want a newer spare car...so I got to thinking about logisitics, how can I convince hubby we need another car? and I came up with this (FIGJAM!) Sell the bluebird and find another car, budget around $8,000 (because I don't want to give her a 15K car PLUS it's not our principal mode of transport), then next year when our daughter gets her P Plates she can use it as her DD if our cars aren't off the road, I put this to hubby and he said "that's a really good idea" (I was shocked into speechlessness because he NEVER agrees to anything that easily). So I started making a list.... '98 onwards under 100,000 klms 1.8 - 2.0 lt 4cyl electric everything power steering disc brakes (F & R) cup holders mp3 player hatch back (back seats must be able to fold down) tow bar has to be SAFE ABS 16 or 17" rims Not a holden Not white or silver Not girly And after I made my list I went out to have a look at cars...and found NOTHING (It was a horrible rainy day and I wasn't trying hard), although a few months ago I saw a really nice little Honda Civic, and realised I don't want another corolla (but I don't know why).... but I'm not sure WHAT I want, any suggestions??? 7shades Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 (edited) Toyota Caldina GT-T fits the bill juuuust right... Might need to save up another couple o g's though :) You may struggle to find less than 100k with those specs on your budget... most MY98 vehicles are pushing about 140k by now, anything with less k's will fetch a premium price. Jono Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 a bit older with more k's but....AUDI 1.8T wagon. Quote
SoulSearcher Posted July 7, 2007 Author Report Posted July 7, 2007 (edited) I revised my list somewhat and.... I found this: http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/priva...l&R=1428844 and this: http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/priva...l&R=1292685 but then I saw this and was REALLY tempted to throw my list out the window: http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/priva...al&R=370576 Edited July 7, 2007 by SoulSearcher Quote
kangaroosa Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 (edited) Its a bit older than what you were looking for, but i reckon you can't go past a SSS Pulsar for a zippy reliable daily car. PGA Thats a bloody good price for a SSS with all the mods listed. SSS Ebay Edited July 7, 2007 by kangaroosa Quote
7shades Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 Bwahahahaha mondeo Thats gold. Personally I could never bring myself to own a Lancer or Accent. They're just so.... "meh".... the accents drive terribly and the lancer, well, its a lancer. You'd cringe every time you sat down in it. SSS pulsars are quite a good bit o kit... probably the pick of the bunch there, but you KNOW you'll end up putting an SR20det into it :) The levin gets my vote... thats borderline price to import one yourself. Wood§tok Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 you will strugle to find a nice car with all those features for less than 8gs. perhaps extend the window of oppertunity to say 1992 onwards, as many cars of this era are still in good nick and will have more of the features you are after. cheers and good luck with the search.
