Won't get much change from 5k with a beams + box... which is fine with me, the extra cost scares most people off, which will make mine more unique :)

Fantastic engine though... nothing like pure NA driveabilty and response... no lag, no boggy starts, no rediculous engine bay temps or air leaks or stupid frikkin pfffft blowoff noises or front mount, just stick it to the floor and listen to the symphony

If ya wanna go N/A go BEAMS 3S!!!

nothing else would come real close IMO, other than maybe the F20... Honda S200 motor.

I don't think the beams is the best bang for you buck motor, they are an amazing piece for engineering, but that makes importers want to put a huge price tag on them.

2ZZ's are more of a peaky engine than a 20V, top end only FTL (come on guys he was talking a 1UZ at the start) good luck getting change from $4000 for the motor and wiring, let alone converting it to RWD. That said, I did here a rumour that someone has found a standard Toyota bellhousing that bolts to the 2ZZ in RWD.

F20's are a terrible motor, on anything besides paper or a dyno. They cost more than a Beams, they don't have enough ring tension. They burn 2L of oil between services, and Honda thinks that this is ok. WTF! Honda spares are too exxy! I know all engine manufacturers are on a quest for less friction inside motors to save fuel usage, but I'm not into oil fouling as a standard feature on expensive motors.

I wouldn't touch an S2000 with a 10foot pole.

2RZ's aren't much of a power house, but they do have some awesome torque, problem is they don't make huge power without a blower, and a 2.4 turbo is never gonna be legal in a corolla.

WORD! n/a isnt always drivable, big cams are almost the equivelent to turbo

they rev to 9thousand stock, i don't know of another piston motor that does this from factory apart from road bikes. the 6speed behind them is also rated very highly, it may not be unbrakeable like a getrag out of a surpa but with that sort for andard worked power you don't need anymore. imo they are a exellent engine.....

it really comes down to what you want though, power, good weight balance. i 6cylinder is going to add a fair bit of weight and more the weight foward. thats something to keep in mind. a commo v6 has been put into a ke55? that handles abit average because of the mass amount of weight over the front.

what about a 13B n/a? thats very light weight, and can be monuted at a desent distance to the fire wall. plenty enough power standard, get it reco'd before you drop it in and your laughing.

If you want the engine to race. You want light weight. This gets rid of the idea of 2.5 6 cylinders etc. V8s blah blah...

4 cylinder or rotor.

Cost Vs performance.

Part availability Vs being different.

Ease of install may also limit your options.

I can see where your coming from. Shit I really wanted something different and now I'm putting a 1JZ into a VN commodore.

I'm up to 5K and all I have is a car thats partially stripped with a stock V6 in the garage and a 1JZ next to it.

The engine itself will only be half of the money spent.

Remember that you are also going to have to convert carbie to EFI. More money.

If I knew anything about rotors Id put a 12A or 13B non turbo carbie into a KE70. Would frickin fly and its a light weight engine that would fit without cutting firewalls.

Just had an idea.

Freshen up the standard engine and make it healthy. Exhaust/intake etc.

then take $1000 and swap that for a wet nitros kit. Install.

take to track. Hit nitros around corner for drifto action.

be sure to read CAMS for rules re: power adders before.

Bugger that... 4k's are so quick to swap, you could have a small pile of them in the garage at home, and every track day just whack a new one in beforehand and run the biznitch on Jet-A1 and a 50hp worth of giggle gas... should last 5 or 6 laps... Plenty

Down the importers I've seen 2.5 Vanos 99 half cuts with 60K on the clock for $2500 190kw factory !!

thats 192hp not kw. i had a 2001 2.5 double vanos short motor in my bedroom, brand new. one of the perks of having a mate work in the parts dept. at BMW. great motor, all alloy sold with my e30 on ebay.

i didn't realise the half cuts of those were getting that cheap, might be time to start dreaming of that e30 conversion after all.

wouldnt go very far with jet-a1 - thats just kero (read equivalent to diesel), think you want avgas...
