Keep it up man, its gonna be great when your done. :nervous:

Can't wait for the pics.

Thanks for the words mate,

FINALLY got to put the diff in on Friday, after waiting 2 hours at the shop because it wasn't put back together, even tho the guy said it would be ready "for sure"...

quoted price was 880, which went up to 1015 because he put new wheel bearings without telling me he was charging me...

The work looks great & fit perfect, but i just don't like being dicked around or lied to.

ANYWAY, have to slightly modify the leaf bracket this weekend to accept the Ubolts, and will be using the original Hilux base plate and U-bolts...

There is a slight complication: becuase of the axle housing size, the lower shock bolt doesnt line up...

will post up pics tonight.

Cheers,

Mark M

so is that $1015 to cut down and weld on the leaf mounts? or does that get you stud pattern change too? new centre? i'll assume you had to supply the diff for that price.

$1015- cut down and weld on all mounts, withg new wheel bearings.

I supplied the complete diff (housing, axles, centre, drums).

I am sticking with the Hilux 5 stud patern, will convert the front when i come to do the front brakes.

Here are the pics:

Looks great so far, have you decided on front brake upgrade. Is the car staying stock on the outside. :owned:

HAHA thanks mick,

i haven't decided on front brakes yet, but it will be something MUCH bigger than stock with the Ford 5stud pattern, will also have remote brake booster located in the dash.

well for now I'll leave the car stock, untill I have all the motor setup & running, so I know i won't have to do any more cutting/butchering etc in the engine bay or on any other part of the car.

Eventually I'll be looking at having it resprayed in a non-factory colour...SORRY MICK!...haha sitting on Simmons or Billets, full leather interior, etc...nothing "fully sick" just a tasteful, clean streeter.

i really like the stock sleeper look, but not what i'm looking for in this car.

Having said that, I 100% respect the work that goes into the street sleepers and "stock" looking cars....but every man has his vice, and this is mine.

but who knows, things may change :abuse: haha

shame, all that strength of the mighty diff and you'll have to stick ugly flares on your '20 to use wide tyres!

nah mate, it hits on the INNER part (leaf & "tub"), just means i need rims with a bigger dish...which is what i wanted...

it has at least 2inches left in the guards, and thats without rolling them.

Hey mark, your plans for the 20 sound good . As for me the only reason i went for the sleeper theme was cause the car was so clean and it was cheaper for me at the start. Eventually i too will respray the car and go for a set of rims and go for a retro look. :lolcry: Ill get some pics up of my rear brake conversion as soon as i can. :P

Yeah micky!

go retro...i love the retro/hotrod styles that are coming through now...

will be back in the garage on saturday morning with my new skinnier tyres & attempting to install the motor/box...

i will need to modify the "bump" in the firewall, with a bit of heat & a mallett..

will post up pics, as usual..

Cheers,

Mark M
