HIGH ROLLER Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 (edited) Hi all, My name's Mark and i've been a rollaholic since i first saw a KE20 about 5 years ago...but as time went by i had less and less money and ended up buying a CHARADE... Now i'm out of school, earning decent money AND FINALLY SCORED MY DREAM CAR! This is my KE20 - 1971 model, i bought it off a guy in Parramatta for $1600 with 12 months rego TOTALLY STOCK & BLUESLIPPED from vic...it was in pretty good nick, aside from some minor rust... Next time i'll post up pics of my half cut and motor, a 4agze Mr2 aw11...The big port one with lower compression... keep rollin... Edited May 23, 2011 by HIGH ROLLER Quote
HIGH ROLLER Posted July 6, 2007 Author Report Posted July 6, 2007 Thanks for the replies guys... yeah it's pretty clean... LOW FANTASIES, and some test rims.... Clean AS interior, some cracks but it'll cop a retrim eventually.... And just a sneak peak of my AW11 Mr2 4agze halvie...sexy ass aye? Coming next: pics of engine removal and some dramas.... KEEP ROLLIN!! Quote
jamesrolla Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 far out man, that car looks neat as, paint and trim looks immaculate, early ke20's are the shit, keep the stockers on it and get some white walls and drop it down, will look better than those other rims, its up to you anyway man, but you got yourself a bargain and a neat as car there, top stuff Quote
dfunkt Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 that interior looks the shizznit against the paint color :) Quote
HIGH ROLLER Posted July 8, 2007 Author Report Posted July 8, 2007 Thanks for the replies guys!! yeah it's hot aye...relax, I'm not using those rims...hahaha they'r my mate's off his AE92 I'm going to stick with stockers untill i get all the brakes done, then maybe simmons... I'm stuck between fr17's or b45's...it's a tough life...hahaha Does anyone know any good rust places, need some of it done soon as so i can drive it without it gettin worse... cheers, Keep rollin Quote
HIGH ROLLER Posted July 9, 2007 Author Report Posted July 9, 2007 Hi all! OK, just thought i'd fill you in on the half cut... this thing was a pain in the ass, seeing as i had never done anything like this before it took us 2 days, maybe 7 hours work in total.. I bought the halvie (mr2 aw11 gze) from Ichiban Imports, and it has 95000km... It's the AFM version with lower compression and BIG port... Here's with the engine crane in place, Because we wanted to take the motor/box out all at once, we had to drop it through the bottom... And thats me removing the last few bits and peices so it will slide out without dramas, but as it turns out, the driveshafts were a BITCH to get out... Thats where my mate Adam comes in, now formally known as "driveshaft man"...what a sick bastard! he took out the shafts in a matter of minutes, after much elbow grease... Not his fines moment, i call this photo "Planet of the APES" I really owe him big time tho, he always helps me out with my car and with life in general he's always got my back, And his grandma makes a mean breakfast...It's her garage i'm using for my workshop...THANKS NANNA! What a mess!! This is all the wiring that was in the engine bay... AND THE FINISHED PRODUCT>> The motor is out, gearbox is off, wiring out...and shell ready to go to the TIP! Big thank you to Adam for helpin me out, honestly couldn't have done it without ya.... Quote
7shades Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 And just think... removing the engine from the donor car is the EASIEST part of a conversion... Its all uphill from here matey... Quote
Jono Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 so you going to leave the supercharger on or go turbo? in my ke20 there seems to be way more room on the exhaust side than the inlet side. Quote
HIGH ROLLER Posted July 11, 2007 Author Report Posted July 11, 2007 HAHAH yeah it's all uphill from here, but will be worth it in the end... Yeah "JC807", i'm going to keep it SC for now and just get the ECU done and mount the cooler at the front, fuel system, lock diff and other bits and pieces.. eventually it will be turbo, probably something like the setup in the JEM AE86 Sprinter (Metallic blue one)... I want the car to be running 13's with the SC, but i want to gofor the magic "10" with a turbo... hahaha but for now i want the engine mounted and running, still after a t50 box... thanks for the replies guys...KEEP ROLLIN!! Jono Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 what sort of diff you going to run? my mate with the turbo GZE ke20 spent $2k getting a cut down V8 VN borg warner diff with brand new discs and brand new lsd. my mate with the rotary ke20 is going to go mini tubs. something to think about if you are after quick times might be the mini tub option. Yeah when it's turbo might go mini tubs... For now i'm just going to weld up the stocker...then later on i'll do it properly, probably with a commo one like your mate... I want it to have commodore brakes all round anyway... suspension and brakes are important to me, i already have the whole suspension system on hold with a guy at All Springs Moorebank... and like i sed, commo brakes all round will stop as if it never started...hahaha Quote
HIGH ROLLER Posted July 16, 2007 Author Report Posted July 16, 2007 UPDATE Hi all, This weekend i went crazy and decided to ditch the SC12 and go straight to TURBO!!! Have already stripped the motor (Manifolds, sc, belts, etc)... Decided that its stupid to spend money twice... So hang on guys, there will be some parts for sale soon enough (SC12, 'cooler, etc) to make way for the turbo... I'm probably going to go for a big t28 BB...on a custom manifold....3 inch all the way through... I CAN'T WAIT!! will post pics soon... KEEP ROLLIN! Quote
