Doogs Posted July 11, 2007 Author Report Posted July 11, 2007 (edited) yeah, fair enough you are spot on, if i do it, i might as well do it all properly, as it would just be a pain to have to fix it all up later ! :) Edited July 11, 2007 by Rad Rolla Quote
Xany Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 (edited) With the right cam, 4-7K is where it should operate. We've all revved the date out of one of these things for giggles, but thats where you should be looking. Hehehehe......brings to mind a certain incident where a certain someone revved the crapper out of his newishly built 5k, getting to about 8000rpm and then having a slight brainfart and deciding to drop the clutch....much giggling and metal gears going "bang" insued.....it was only the diff but taught me a lesson....lol On topic, i had my 5k balanced and the flywheel is still original.....i also had the harmonic balancer (only on the 5K) rebuilt. It sees 6500rpm on a daily basis, at least once to 8000rpm each week just for shits and giggles. Edited July 11, 2007 by Xany Quote
Felix Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Just build your motor to make peak HP at 7500 or lower and save your $$$. A stock bottom end is good for 8 grand (or more) :) Biggest weakness in a high revving K motor is piston ring groove wear. Quote
