02Rolla Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 G'day people, as evident from my post count i'm new :P Anyway I picked up a 2002 seca ascent at the start of the week and I'm very pleased with the car. I test drove heaps and heaps of 4Cylinder cars in my price range and the corolla stuck out as the best by far IMO. Anyway i am just curious to know if toyota australia deal in TRD parts, i would love to wack a supercharger on my car but want to know if there available in Australia and if toyota actually fit them (or a toyota specialist) , and if they do, do you get a toyota parts warrenty on them like in Japan or the US. The car while lively still lacks a bit of punch and i want to squeeze some more out of it. ta Quote
irokin Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 I have an Australian contact. I'll ask him next time I see him. And welcome!! Quote
Teddy Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 Ahh a new corolla ! Welcome :P ! Quote
02Rolla Posted September 9, 2004 Author Report Posted September 9, 2004 Thanks Fellas It is my first corolla and i'm loving it, the engine has a suprising amount of grunt for a NA 1.8L engine (more then the civic and pulsar that i was considering along with this rolla) and having owned toyota's in the past i know that the build quality is of extremely high standards. Teddy Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 yeah, japs know how to build a dam good car that will last. we have had Toyota's through our family since i was about this big ( ) - and they don't die :P - as long as you keep them serviced :P Quote
02Rolla Posted September 10, 2004 Author Report Posted September 10, 2004 Any good body kits available in Australia for the ZZE122R Corolla's ? if so do they have a website and how expensive is a full kit :P Quote
Redwarf Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Google.com is your friend. Don't know of any due to the fact it's not my scene, but google or yahoo.com.au and search ZZE122r bodykit or corolla bodykit, you should probably find something worthwhile. Cheers R Quote
irokin Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Ive contacted a guy I know he says: "Penrith Toyota does TRD and fits them too i believe" Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted September 14, 2004 Report Posted September 14, 2004 yeah I'm a TRD dealer see here for zze12# parts: TRD corolla I'm afraid theres no TRD s/c kit for them. as for warranty it will depend on how toyota oz feel, i know here in nz its all good unless you start playing with the engine, eg springs are all good, but fitting TRD pistons will be frowned apon! 02Rolla Posted September 15, 2004 Author Report Posted September 15, 2004 http://www.penrithtoyota.com.au/parts/proj_corolla_news.htm Is that a TRD supercharger or some other make ? the way they have worded it, it seems to be one and for the current model corolla. Whats the deal with corolla body kits, do they only come in set range of colours because my rolla is metallic red/maroon and i haven't seen any levins driving around the same colour or any in pictures. How much (if you know) is a ball park figure for a full body (painted if they don't allready come in the same colour as my car) Thanks Guys Quote
irokin Posted September 15, 2004 Report Posted September 15, 2004 does it matter if its TRD?? honestly Id be wanting someone with more experience than TRD to be making my supercharger....Whipple for example. With TRD you can expect to pay a "tag" premium (ala you pay for the name like billabong etc) Quote
02Rolla Posted September 15, 2004 Author Report Posted September 15, 2004 Only reason i was interested in TRD is because I'm under the impression that fitting TRD stuff does not void your warrenty especially if its done by a toyota dealer like the one in Penrith. My car still has about 8months new car warrenty on it then after that expires i get an additional 3 years and that to me is worth a little extra. (For the record though i have no idea if Toyota Australia actually do offer warrenty when TRD equipment is fitted) Quote
irokin Posted September 15, 2004 Report Posted September 15, 2004 I wouldnt think they would...pumping boost into a stock engine is gonna shorten its life so I can't imagine toyota honouring the warrenty. Ive seen a WRX guy mod his car to death...then return it to stock and go for warrenty. He would have gotten away with it if some people off the forums took it into their own hands to stop his fraudulent claims. (FYI he ran 17psi boost into a stock engine...melted a piston) Quote
02Rolla Posted September 15, 2004 Author Report Posted September 15, 2004 Yeah by the looks of it i may just keep it NA and see how much of a performance boost i can get with out losing my warrenty. If latter down the track when my warrenty is almost gone i will probably look into superchargers/turbocharger then. I will have a talk to the toyota dealership i bought the car from to see what i can actually get away with changing, will prob look at getting a cold air intake, full exhaust system and extractor if they allow it. irokin Posted September 15, 2004 Report Posted September 15, 2004 Might want to look at an aftermarket ECU or chip your current one... Quote
