ScottKE1X Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 (edited) I'm selling a ke11 shell and my ca18 to a mate as a project and to make transport easier i thought id chuck the ca in the bay and tie it down. I was very surprised to see it fitted very very well, if the rubbers were'nt so big on the ca mounts it would have even fit into the stock crossmember mounts! At a glance it wasnt not perfect but its definately a do able conversion. The bonnet even fitted back on. just thought id share. Scott. Edited July 2, 2007 by ROL-110 Quote
philbey Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 ca's are top motors. I had a poxy bluebird with one and it hauled. interested to hear of the progress on this thing. Quote
toy-rota Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 just recently received the shell scott sold, CHEERS heaps scotty. i would like to know if it has been done already (hopefully not). how'd you go?? if there were any major proplems ie. structrual, firwall and tunnel work it would be good to know aswell. i made a template of the gear box to suss how i would go housing it and theres some cutting to be done. what would be easier replacing the stock tunnel with a 180 or silvia one. or just making one myself from sheet metal. Help would be much appriciated cheers James Quote
ke11restorer Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 I wouldnt mind doing this as well But don't really wanna chop up the firewall/transtunnel on my ke11 its too original  Quote
dudemannn Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 Hey Rollaclub, I'm new to rollaclub and i remember reading an article on a ke15 sprinter having a 1.8det dropped in it, It was running 11 second quarter mile times. My query is that the ke10 is similar weight to a ke15 and the parts for a 1.8det are everywhere so could you get that legally registered in QLD? What a machine it would be! :) Quote
ScottKE1X Posted July 22, 2007 Author Report Posted July 22, 2007 Hey james, i was wonding if you'd find this... I'd say you'd need to do some cutting and welding. I recon most people do the sheet metal jobs in the trans tunnel. can you get a s13 tunnel can you? dudemannn- keen to know more about this ca18det ke15 if you know anything more... Quote
dudemannn Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 This is the website i remember reading about it a year ago the ke15 sprinter its a track corolla! nice read http://autospeed.drive.com.au/cms/A_2990/article.html Quote
toy-rota Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Ended up cutting the tunnel from a ke55 wreck a mate had, the ca box looks like it will fit nice and cosy. How do you think i would go using the front struts from the car into my ke11. Quote
BENS STEERING Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 doing this conversion now actually the fire wall does not need modilying but the tunnel does even with me running a c4 auto i still needed the tunnel modified i will post some pics soonish Quote
Ke10-Hoon Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 just recently received the shell scott sold, CHEERS heaps scotty. i would like to know if it has been done already (hopefully not). how'd you go?? if there were any major proplems ie. structrual, firwall and tunnel work it would be good to know aswell. i made a template of the gear box to suss how i would go housing it and theres some cutting to be done. what would be easier replacing the stock tunnel with a 180 or silvia one. or just making one myself from sheet metal. Help would be much appriciated cheers James Hi, I have a registered ke10 with a CA18DET. Getting the motor in is no problem, it’s all the other shit that comes along with it. All you really need to do is to raise the trans tunnel up by 80mm (approx) to get the motor to sit nice (Manual box). Do a search on my posts and you will find a thread on project. Best of luck with the build, keep posting up the progress. Quote
