team_bodyroll Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 hello i have a dirty shitter of a ke70 wagon that i use for a daily. would really like to put something a tad bit bigger in than the 4kc. someone i know has an engine out of a t18 but i'm not sure if it will bolt straight up. not interested in anything efi. on an extremely tight budget (might be able to get this engine for $50). i have searched but it seems anyone doing a conversion is doing a worthwhile one. this isn't my project car, just want it to be able to overtake occasionally and not be such a slug. cheers Quote
Medicine_Man Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Pretty sure you should be able to use the T18 engine crossmember and the 2T engine should bolt in no great dramas.. Quote
Des Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) T18's have a steering box, Ke70 have a rack and pinion. Big drama's there but you can over come them with a welder and some skill. They have a 3T as well but your close Justin  Edited June 28, 2007 by AE70 Quote
team_bodyroll Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 cool cheers heaps. will the ke70 g'box bolt up to the 2t? i admit i know nothing about the toyota series engines so i ask, is the 2t a 1.8l? Quote

The ke70 5 speed is a k50 and no it wont bolt up, You need a 21 spline T50 from the T18. Quote
team_bodyroll Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 ahh well, bugger that hey. any opinions on some super cheap carby donks that will bolt up? really appreciate these quick reply's dudes Quote

The mighty 4k responds well to mods, Twin carbs, Head shave and a Cam will make it get up and go. Now where did that Justin fella go  He knows his 4k's. Edited June 28, 2007 by AE70 Quote
Medicine_Man Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Best option for budget is really a 5K Quote
team_bodyroll Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 i might look into leaving the 4k there. a mate from work races the little 1.3's at the speedway. i think his last one saw 48kw or something lol Quote

Is your car a manual or auto ? Quote
team_bodyroll Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 it's 4 speed manual. lol i know they can take a beating. it's insane. i've had it for about 14months and i can't kill the little bugger and damn i give it hell Quote

For more power i would go: Extractors with 2 inch exhaust. Twin 40mm weber's or dellorto's A cam will help but isn't necessary. A nikki carby from a mazda or gemmy fits with slight mods aswell, Read the FAq for more info on that one. About $1500 worth of gear there alone so the budget is long gone. Believe it or not but the 4k can actually beat other cars. Quote
team_bodyroll Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) lol i'm really keen on tips. but remember this isn't a project just a daily. the most i spent on it was yesterday. i scored some wheels and tyres which were $150 lol. to tell you the truth i love it heaps more now. i was going to sell it this weekend but rang the buyer and told him i couldn't part with it haha oh and what cars have the k50 g'box? 7shades Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I have a few, for the one the missus drives I just whacked a weber and extractors and a 2" exhaust. Keeps up with barinas now and sounds pretty cool revving its guts out. Quote
