Got my coilovers back on wednesday. They consist of RA65 celica struts shortened to suit tokiko HTS struts. I can't remeber what the coilover sleeves were but they're mated to a pair of 400lbs king springs.

On with the pics!

oh! mad props goes out to Paul at RallyTorque These things are a work of art.

oh another question hehe, how much $$ all up? Techno Toy Tuning coilovers look nice, but at $975 just for the fronts...although compared to Tein etc. thats cheap.

T3 coilovers are nice but you can probably source your own locally for cheaper.

don't waste your money on shit shocks. Buy the best to suit your needs within a resonable price range. Look into a set of short stroke shocks if you are going for that "defect me" low kind of look.

My shocks alone were around 900 bucks to my door after factoring in shipping and customs duty etc :P

The rear springrate will probably be around the 5-6kg range which should be fairly stiff for a car in the 800kg range. I'll stick with the normal setup ATM. I still need a diff. More importantly I need to do a few upgrades to the nut behind the wheel.

lol

I am looking at 8kg front, 7kg rear. Josh uses this in his custard AE86 that things sweet, although of course his skill has something to do with it.

Although the T3 are exxy, they use Eibach springs and AGX short strokes, thats a whole lot of quality right there. The camber tops are also only $170(US), but thats still better then second hand cusco's as the T3 ones are brand new. I bought some second hand TRD short stroke shocks for a fairly good price, so I'm gonna chuck these in some struts and see if they are any good or not.

Are you still in need of a T-18 rear end? I may know of one. I'll PM you if i find out.

Are these for the AE71? 7kg seems a little stiff for the rear. Remember, what works for one person might not work for yourself.

I'm not sure what sort of skill level you are at but as teddy demonstrated at the skidpan a stiffer higher grip setup was more of a hinderance than a help. There was a vast improvment once he jumped into the KE70's softer more familiar setup.

Now that I think about it, I was better off getting the basics down in my stock red sprinter and then changing to a stiffer less forgiving setup. (which still manages to bite me in the arse some times)

Yea, the difference in feel was amazing - Paul's sprinter is a nice car to drive, but i didn't (and still don't) have enough practice, experience or skill to be able to comment much more on that ; with that said..

As the master says, Car Time, Car Time, Car Time - I'm getting there lol

I like to look at it this way (could be wrong..) - A Stockish ke70 has a bit of body roll and a soft enough setup : it adsorbs some of the *shock* (if thats the correct word) - where as Paul's blue Sprinter is rather unforgiving if you get it wrong, but when you get it correct, the results are v impressive as every one has seen :P

Well they were going to be for a AE86 or AE71. I was thinking 8kg fronts, but would go to 6kg rear if it would better. I don't mind having the wrong stiffness springs in to start with as i'll either get used to it or just change them, buying springs from the manufactuarers is fairly cheap.

It hard trying to get the 'basics' down in a standard ae71 as the suspension isnt the best, its fine in the wet but dry i just wouldnt try. The setup is very soft as being standard, so going around in standard suspension isnt going to get me anywhere, so i will have to upgrade the suspension sooner or later. First mods will be suspension and LSD.

But the AE71 vs. AE86 dillema is still in my head :P
