Toyota Racing Development (TRD) Australia is soon to release an exciting new performance vehicle. In a world first for Toyota, the new TRD Aurion will launch next month. It's a triumphant moment for the highly experienced and expert engineering team who created this new performance sedan. The car features a supercharged 3.5-litre V6 engine pumping out 241kW, as well as a six-speed automatic transmission. With a premium sporty design for a highly sophisticated feel, the look is inspired by Toyota's Formula One car. Even the car seats themselves are evocative of racing seats, providing high lateral support with high grip materials.

The new TRD Aurion is also the first production car in the world to use the new Eaton twin-vortices supercharger (TVS), substantially reducing engine noise while improving power and torque.

Find out more about this premium performance vehicle on our website, and get behind the ‘virtual' wheel of the new 2007 TRD Corolla in our online game – the 3D TRD Rally Experience.

Its nice... and its an actual performance car from Toyota, which is nice to see finally, but no manual? What about awd?

I'll be hanging out until they release the 2009 awd rolla with this engine. That way, I can wish I can afford one of those instead

241kW ey? Meh, when Toyota announced the TRD Aurion would have 'at least' 235kW, I had a strong feeling that they wouldn't go very far above that. It'll be interesting to see how much grunt the next XR6 Turbo has - and also how much power Ford make from the upcoming V6.

It looks nice & sporty, and I'm certain it will feel like a nice premium car, but will have difficulty against the competition in the bracket Toyota are aiming for - they're all AWD or RWD. People are going to be put off (and rightfully so) because it's FWD. FWD and big cars doesn't work too well. Combine that with big power & torque and it'll be a big waste of time.

The Hilux will be interesting though. :P

Geez, tell us what you really think :o

Thinking about it though, what would be a release date of this? I'm thinking after TRD corolla?

And the price has to stay down. This vehicle is aimed directly at younger buyers who want into the sports compact market. Can Toyota produce a profitable rear-drive coupe within this range? We aren't certain, but we do know that it appears Toyota may be trying to rekindle the fun factor of the mid-‘80s Corolla shitbox.
