67Rolla-Ken Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 I remember seeing that when I first got my forklift ticket, great pic :P Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 8, 2013 Report Posted January 8, 2013 (edited) Do you even double lift? Edited January 8, 2013 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 Do you even double lift? We do double lift sometimes when needed... by double lift I mean a forklift on either side of a load, not a forklift on a forklift. That's just supidity! Quote
Trev Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 We do double lift sometimes when needed... by double lift I mean a forklift on either side of a load, not a forklift on a forklift. That's just supidity! That is how they used to get unloaded when I worked at Komatsu. Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 (edited) I've some reeaaally dodgy stuff in the workshops at work, such as the 60T overhead crane being used to hang a continuous miner gathering head (think a giant flat dozer blade/shovel with big rotating crab-arms on it) wedged against a plate welded to the floor whilst a forklift gets a running start to try and rip a busted cylinder out... Also, anytime you hear the word "Franna" around the workshop, just run. Something is always dodgy when a Franna is involved Edited January 9, 2013 by Hiro Protagonist Quote
orangeLJ Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 haha, I used to work for a company that manufactured container forks and reach stackers. Have you ever seen a dodgy lift cylinder from a 60 tonne capacity forlift loose pressure while holding 40 odd tonne 10 metres in the air? Its loud and terrifying, but ohhhhh so cool! Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 Had a little holiday to Caloundra, and managed some nice images of the bushfires. What a sunset. I was expecting some Pterodactyls to fly over. Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted January 11, 2013 Report Posted January 11, 2013 I thought you were in Egypt from the first pic  Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 Went to the Palmer Car Museum before he put them all back in storage so he can build the bigger show room. Here's a link to some pics, my phone went flat so missed a few pics of the oldest ones there. Jaw dropping some of these cars. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) Yeah. Cool how the steering wheel is connected to the door via a uni joint. This one (below) is one of only 7 made, and the only one left in the world. It ferried passengers to the Titanic. can't remember what its called. I spent more time with my light on my phone looking under them at the running gear, its amazing how far we've come. Some of them had manual lubrication systems, there were dash mounted glass vials that you adjusted the drip timing, it would run down tubes into the engine to lubricate the crank. At the end of the journey youd empty the oil from a reservoir and reuse it. Absolutely awesome, crazy pedal arrangements, ignition advance and retard on the steering wheels, chain drives, kerosene head lamps. Wish I had taken my SLR. :( Edited January 13, 2013 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
