aidaniel[RL] Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 earlier this week i put a ke70 5 speed in my car and since then i have noticed a rather quiet rattle coming from what i thought was the tailshaft shroud. but today it has become much worse and you can only hear it when you drop back gears of just as your changing up. it sounds like its coming from around the clucth area. any ideas what it is??? 7shades Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 (edited) Go count your sockets... the 14mm might be missing :P Or alternatively, did you replace the spigot and throwout bearings? They might be flogged. Edited June 7, 2007 by 7shades Quote
aidaniel[RL] Posted June 7, 2007 Author Report Posted June 7, 2007 the spigot bearing is near new (5000km's) ... what are the throwout bearings :D and i have all of my sockets still :P Quote
7shades Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 The throwout bearing is the round thing on the end of the gearbox input shaft that the clutch fork grabs and pushes onto the clutch pressure plate to disengage the clutch. You usually get a fresh one when you buy a clutch kit. Quote
aidaniel[RL] Posted June 7, 2007 Author Report Posted June 7, 2007 you mean the THRUST bearing ... did a new clutch in december thats when i did the spigot bearing and thrust bearing is there any chance i could be from putting the clutch plate in backwards? Quote
