sali Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Hi everyone; I know this is off the topic.I didnt know where else to post it.Would any one have a ball park figure of how much freight would cost to send a 5k engine and 5 speed from Adelaide to Melbourne Victoria? Quote
Redwarf Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 Let your fingers do the walking. We could tell you a figure (87 for example), but there's a good chance it'll be wrong. You should be able to get a good rate from a freight company wanting to back fill a load. Just be prepared to pick it up from the depot. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 I just got a 5k (no box) sent from sydney to Tassie for $180 through tasfreight. they are nation wide though. Quote

Thanks for that guys, Thinking of getting the engine transfered via road or by train hope it will be cheap.Any ideas on how much the engine and transmission will weigh? JiP Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 The engine will be heavy so may cost abit. Unless you try to get it transported by a truck company that travels between the cities that you'd be enquiring about. They may be able to do you a deal. Ring around. Quote
sali Posted June 4, 2007 Author Report Posted June 4, 2007 I was thinking of using STAR TRACK EXPRESS so i was advised. Quote
coln72 Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 When I was working as a despatcher, I found it was a lot better using private freighters for odd shaped loads as they were more willing and generally cheaper. Star Track wouldn't want to know you if you didn't have an account with them (but this was a number of years ago). Quote
mattress Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 I'm with coln72, steer clear of the bigger companies for that sort of thing. Another good reson to steer clear of star track is that they like to lose things. I have to deal with them quite a bit through work. Quote
