AE71 DRIFT Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 alright thanks 4 that. is there any other things that are difficult/ important bout this kinda conversion?? I'm guessing its basically the same as doing an SR20DET conversion jus without all the turbo gear. any help will be great!:o One of the most helpful things you need to know about doin this is you CANNOT put the box in after the engine or drop the box once its in you need to put the engine and box in already asembled.. I'm in the process of doing an SRde+t into our little AE71 fairly simple all i did was drop the engine moked it all up then cut the engine mount brackets off the crossmember and re tacket them were they needed to be.. I'm only 18 and this is my first project car this massive lol but i think youll find with some patience and a few late nights youll be fine.. heres a link to some of our progress pics enjoy.. and good luck with your build.. if you have any questions please don't hesitate to pm me :jamie: Pics here http://www.putfile.com/shiftee86/images/114562 http://www.driftwa.com/forums/index.php?sh...c=2353&st=0 Quote

andro0o Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 (edited) One of the most helpful things you need to know about doin this is you CANNOT put the box in after the engine or drop the box once its in thats cause you do a cheap job and just bash the tunnel and the firewall abit. if your goona go to the effort do it right the first time. not take your motor out everytime you wanna do a clutch. so .. what about the tranny mounts..?? and what axle/diff ur using..?? u need a custom gearbox x member. and I'm guessing hes using a hilux or tarago diff or something. methinks he'd be doing crown wheel and pinions as a weekly thing if he stuck a t series behind an sr. andro0o Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 most people just bash the firewall and tunnell out abit so the motor just fits in, but which in essence is free. but when it comes time to change a clutch and cause motor is pressed right up to the firewall you can't really get to the bellhousing bolts, so u gotta rip the motor out.
