mikos Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 Hey guys, I'm Mikos' mate who grabbed his (working) spare 86kw motor to put into my own AE82 Twin cam, but i don't know what the base timing at idle should be set to. I've just started at 7deg BTDC and have been slowly advancing it every day but have stopped doing it because it keeps taking it and wont ping!!! I'm not 100% on if it is or not due to all the under-bonnet noise from inlet/zorst, so i just left it where it is untill i can get a timing light and another ear to see if its pinging or not. i'm very aware of what it sounds like but with all the other noises that arre going on. anyone know what they run as a good timing setting on 95RON?? Cheers, Paul P. Quote
Sam_Q Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 do you know your meant to put your ecu into fault mode before you check the timing? Quote
damo101 Posted May 19, 2007 Report Posted May 19, 2007 i think its supposed to be 10 deg with the terminals short circuited.i supose you got a few degrees more if you run premium. Quote
