JiP Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 Its been ages since I've worked on this car. This morning I woke up and was in the mood to fix that. Problem was it was pouring down raining. So I did a little bit from the inside. When I got the car I received a overrated condition dash that was out of a donor car. This is the old dash minus the screws that were in the dash-top. This is the ceiling. I peeled off a section but the glue they used has damaged the vinyl. I have a spare at home that I might drop in at a later stage. I think it also would fit a KE30 sedan. I hope to test that theory some day. The previous owners completely pulled this car apart and re assembled it. I'm assuming that they lost almost all of the screws cause nothing matches anything. Lastly, the rain was pouring down so much that it was trickling inside through the door. So I gave up. I may attempt it again tomorrow. This is how it looked like when I gave up. I found the shifter abit odd as it looks like they have covered up a hole. I remember getting a KE70 5 speed with the rest of the parts. I assume that it must have been in this car at some stage. JiP Posted February 27, 2008 Author Report Posted February 27, 2008 Okay so the rain stopped for today... YAY!! So I finished removing the dash. Here's the old Vs. the new. Not really liking the old. They even painted all the screws. Here is the new one in the car just before I cleaned it up. Now here it is after. Its very much an improvement Next, removal of the door trims... Quote
KJ's Rollas Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 A good days work well worth it! Well done :P Quote

Here is my drivers side door Before This is After I cleaned it up and put the replacement panels on. This is the passenger door Before The replacement panel before cleaning with the wear marks where the winder goes and door handle After cleaning and assembled. Lastly a shot of the cars interior now. So tomorrow while Lolla's new headlight are installed I'll be finishing up the boot and rear side trims. Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 Okay so today I attempted to clean the seats. JiP Posted March 2, 2008 Author Report Posted March 2, 2008 No, no hippies, just colour blind people. Quote
Teddy Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 Oh that looks so much nicer ! How many god dam cars are you restoring atm ? haha  Quote
JiP Posted March 2, 2008 Author Report Posted March 2, 2008 Almost made it 7 yesterday, but fell asleep 11 mins before the auction ended. Quote
JiP Posted March 3, 2008 Author Report Posted March 3, 2008 So heres todays effort... Here's the boot before... Without the crappy carpet... The wheel well was full of crap, I cleaned it up completely and actually don't mind the original colour. Might actually contemplate respraying it that colour. Seems the KE50's came out with metallic type paints. This one is kind of a gold colour while the donor car was a metallic type blue. The panel that sits over the tire was in bad condition, so I swapped it for my spare. Same with the plastic compartment covers. They were covered in paint. Here is the boot carpets all in place. And lastly attached to the seats Looking at the car now I believe it will be hard to let go once done. Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 Oh and also, SHE STILL STARTS!! wow it has/ had a bright blue tow-bar too. looking good., Quote
JiP Posted March 3, 2008 Author Report Posted March 3, 2008 Oh and might I add that I HATE the crumbly shit that people use to carpet their boots. Its that sub box shit. It makes a massive mess. I hope to one day have my sub box recovered. Quote
Pacsker Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 Hy Jip! First of all sory of my english! I'm from Budapest, Hungary (middle Europe). Congratulate for your projects! I respect you, because these were giant work, made endless time, and costs horrible money! I'm a president of the Corolla Club Hungary. We've more than 100 members. Most of the cars are more than 18 years 8/ We've some oldies (some KE70, TE71, 2 KE50, and a KE30.) If you interested in, check our site: http://corolla-club.hu The webdesign is not the best, but i working on it. You find the members in "Tagok" , and our trips, meetings, galleries, in "Galéria". So what i write for you. Yesterday i bought a TE51. I found it more than a half year before, but i could bought is just yest. I love him. He was used in Switzerland at the beginning still '78 (when he was born) After moved to Hungary in '92. In our country we had diverse climate, and i think the Cory never had a garage  , so the body is very bad conditioned. In the middle of summer I'll start that project. I try to search a donor, but in whole of Hungary only 4-5 KE50-TE51 are. So it was impossible. The interios and the body are deective too :sob: For example the right chrome headlight bezel, the chrome side lines, the glove box is broke, the right tail light is broken too. So do you have any parts for me from your garage, or a salvage yard? Or could you advise me somebody? It would be big help for me! So can we tell something business? I show some pics from the 30 years car :) The original colour was brown. It has a 2T with a 3 gear automatic transmission!!! it works really bad, but i decided to repair, because it's rarity, and the driving with it takes me the best feeling :) Are somebody adept at the AT transm? That TE51 is my 5th Rolla. My first car was an E8 Liftback(Seca) DX with 4A, after I bought an E9 Seca GL with 4A-F, after i bought a donor E9 Seca Gt-i (SX) to rebuild my GL to a GT-i. During i bought an AE86 SR, but i have to sell it :sob: and the "new Lift Back" will be my new project. Look the left wheeled dashboard, and the MANIFOLD VACUUM. (Cruising, accelerate, and power) Quote
JiP Posted March 22, 2008 Author Report Posted March 22, 2008 Hey, looks good. PM me on what you need and I'll see if I can get it for you. We might be able to help each other out like your drivers side mirrors. Quote
